    The Earth isn't symmetrical either. But you certainly wouldn't call it a dome. The Earth is also surrounded by the atmosphere, which is not perfectly symmetrical either.

    Interesting.

    I was always aware that it wasn't *exactly* a sphere since it wasn't symmetrical (looks symmetrical enough to me though).

    But I wasn't aware it was done in 2 pieces. That's interesting.

    Are there any online pics or diagrams you've come across that illustrate this? I'd love to see a schematic or something if anyone knows of one.
