Sponsors were all over the place. So, a few Starbucks stores in the parks is pretty much harkening back to Walt-era practices, so...yeah, don't see the big deal about it.

Originally Posted By DlandDug I'm with gurgitoy on this. The idea that having a Starbucks inside the theme park corrupts Walt's original vision is just anti-historical. Walt Disney personally pitched a number of American corporations to sponsor-- and advertise-- their presence inside Disneyland. Just a short list off the top of my head: Hills Brothers Coffee House; Welches Grape Juice stands; Frito's Casa Mexicana; Coca Cola Refreshment Corner; Pepsi Cola Golden Horseshoe revue (with Pepsi logos on the show curtain and menus!); Stouffer's Plaza Pavilion; Dole Pineapple stand; Swift Market House (with a model butcher shop offering Swift products); The American Egg House (I am not making this up). That's just food venues. There are countless examples of other corporate sponsors who were allowed to plaster their names and logos all over the attractions. Monsanto... General Electric... General Dynamics... Santa Fe... Eastern Air Lines... and on and on. Walt would probably be pleased as punch to have a long-term, multi-park deal with a successful American company like Starbucks.

Unless there's more work to be done at the MK store, DCA has the better Starbucks so far. I'm curious to see how the Main Street location at DL turns out.

Once the crowds show up (and I'm sure they will) I think people will be glad that it's laid out more efficiently to get guests on with their visit to the park, rather than devoting a large area to seating There was also a cover story on Yahoo about it the other day (though in all fairness, most of their stories are complete garbage and this one was no exceptio). Nothing new, but I'm really surprised how much coverage this is getting, since the DCA location has been open for a full year already In addition to comparing the DL and MK Main Street versions, I'm also interested to see what they do with the Future World theme in Epcot. Since they could take it in almost any direction, there's a ton of flexibility (and none of the nostalgia, since few people ever waxed poetic about the Fountain View)
