I'm going to put on my Apologist Hat and say that it is entirely possible that DCA's location was blessed with a bigger budget because Disney was rolling the dice with the "new" DCA. There was very little skimping on BV Street, if any, and the Fiddler Fifer & Practical Cafe project was just one piece of a larger program at that park. Therefore, I'm not expecting DL's to be as extravagantly designed, but we'll see. "I like the Starbucks in DCA, but I waited almost 30 mins once which was crazy." Geez. I would have said something after about 5 minutes. People have rides to ride!

Do you mean this article: <a href="http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorized/main-street-bakery-reopens/#more-11324" target="_blank">http://www.easywdw.com/uncateg...re-11324</a> OAN, look at this view from the cafe patio. You certainly won't get this at DL's Starbucks when it opens: <a href="http://www.easywdw.com/reports8/trbghzsds26.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.easywdw.com/reports...ds26.jpg</a>

They completely gutted all of the buildings in the Sunshine Plaza (not that there was much before) and built completely different interiors. For Main Street, they're taking one vaguely-Victorian themed interior and reconfiguring it to a different vaguely-Victorian themed interior. I'm expecting slightly more from DL's version, as we've heard that they're moving walls. They're taking 2-3 existing shops and turning them into 1, so they're doing a little more work anyway, and the layout will change more. In WDW, I'm pretty sure they just rearranged within the existing walls

OK, so it'll be a bit more maybe in terms of build out, but I'd be surprised if the finished product is as elaborate as DCA's. I could be wrong though... the most recent Main Street upgrades have been exceptional.

The old buildings curved around to the right with the train. I'm thinking the buildings there are completely new, inside and out.

I thought I read in the Howard Schultz book "onward" that Starbucks changed the mermaid, because it revealed too much. However I like the old one better, they already used it at DLRP when Starbucks opened in 2008.

At DL this change to "just" a coffee shop is not that big of an adjustment. Interestingly, the Magic Kingdom Market House location became the expanded (and well done) Crystal Arts several years back. If WDW really used there space better the seldom opened Tomorrowland Terrace (off the hub) can be more enclosed and offer a different bakery location...they could then change the "Main Street Bakery" to the "Main Street Coffee House," which might be a more accurate description of the current locale.

And when one thing opens, it always seems to come at the expense of an existing location, even though there's plenty of space for these things to coexist in the theme park. For a park that's seen record attendance in the last decade, it's amazing that they think that they can't afford to staff these additional locations. They seemed to do fine in the park's first couple decades, when there were far fewere guests. Perhaps if they had compelling merchandise (or food & drink) then guests would be more willing to part with their money. It's just strange to me how much of the MK (especially the west side) feels like it's closed to guests, and I don't even remember what it was like when everything was open way-back-when

Honestly I think it's just the typical knee-jerk reaction to almost anything Disney does in Florida these days. In addition, MiceAge's opinionated reporting has been setting the tone for the online Disney theme park fan base for at least a decade now. If the reviewer had glowing things to say about the new bakery most of the readers would have nodded along in agreement.
