I had posted a link to Kevin Bacon in Animal House telling everyone to remain calm and Malin took great offense at that, too.

Matter of fact, why not again?

And since Japan's nuclear agency just announced they're considering raising the threat level to a 7, putting it on par with Chernobyl, sadly not only is my "I'd get out if I could" looking more prescient but Malin's unique inability to appreciate nuclear issues becomes more glaring, if that was possible.

They're calling the entire crisis a 7 now, but each reactor is still a 5 (for now).

If TDR makes an announcement today, I suspect they'll receive some backlash over it.

Granted, the possibility of other sizable aftershocks remains extremely high. But if you're going to base reopening the place on whether or not an earthquake might hit, you might as well keep them closed forever.

At the moment, I'm more concerned about the fact that so many of these large tremors are occuring near Fukushima, certainly hindering efforts at the reactors and leaving open the constant possibility that conditions could deteriorate up there.

I'm concerned about that, and Mt. Fuji (March 15th 6.2 quake was located right under the monster).

The last time Fuji got angry, it was 49 days after an 8.6 quake (which was previously the largest in recorded Japanese history til this year).

    Er...yikes.

According the USGS site, the 6.2 today was the one just off the coast of Chiba Prefecture, not the 6.6.
