    It doesn't. It's pretty awful.

WDW's water tastes like you're in a rural area, drinking from their water supply. DL's water tastes like you're in a factory, drinking the water that they use to cool down the hot machinery. I much prefer WDW's taste to DL's, though neither are particularly great.

Also, in general, I don't mind the taste of water in soCal. There are specific areas (like near my grandma) that are always especially bad, but overall it wasn't half bad. It just isn't as chic as fancy water from France, so a lot of people there are scared of it.

They're intentionally making the water taste bad?

WDW has its own water treatment plant, so they have total control over the water in the parks. If they really wanted it to taste good, they could make it happen; looks like they're okay with it the way it is.

According to sources in Central Florida, the water in Central Florida has high consentrations of sulfer. I'm not sure where WDW is getting their water from, but the ground water in WDWs lakes, so called rivers and drainage canals always looks so murky and smells offensive. The Rivers of America in the Magic Kingdom, and the water canal going around the castle always look so murky.
