Originally Posted By u k fan I don't think there was a conspiracy, but the Academy tends to nominate the "showstopper" numbers or the love songs and Hunchback didn't have either in a traditional sense. I guess Out There would be the usual pick, but there was no single version to catch the public's interest. I don't remember what won that year, but I'm sure that Out There, Hellfire and God Help The Outcasts were every bit as good. The score really should have won though!!!

It's a very nice song, but that doesn't take away from the fact that something from Hunchback should have been nommed. Ultimately, there were no "break-away" hits from HoND and I think that's what made the difference. All the other nominees that year (bar one) had successful chart runs when their movies were released!!!
