Quiz: Besides being a big fat lie, I've plagiarized the above idea from a pretty well-known Florida writer. Can you name the writer?

Extra credit if you can name the book also.

I think you're being overly cynical about WDW management. Yes, it would be easy (and short-sighted) of them to over-react based on Katrina. But, Katrina or no Katrina, the safest and best option is ALWAYS to err on the side of caution.

So we don't know for sure the effect of Wilma on Orlando tomorrrow? If there's a CHANCE that it may be serious, then good for WDW for erring of the side of safety.

What's worse? That Joe Tourist and his 15 kids travel all the way to Orlando and can't get into Animal Kingdom on what turns out to be another beee-yoooouuuu-tiful sunny Florida day -- or that the Park is open, Disney encourages them to run around and spend money, and then a big wind comes up and blows one of Joe's kids into next week?

I respect Disney's decision to close the Parks. In ALL areas of our lives, if in doubt, err on the side of caution.

Yes, ma'am, I should be, but just got home from the theatre and need to wind down. And, what better way than with lovely folks like yourself, RoadTrip, TDLFAN, and Inspector 57?

ORDDU: And please don't misunderstand us, dear. We're not saying Disney has made the wrong decision, here. Based on what our vacationing friend had told us, earlier, we were just wondering why there was a decision to close down only 2 parks instead of 4. But, as you can see, there seems to be some inconsistancy about that report. Above all we want everyone to be safe.

OMG!!! Are new pins scheduled to go on sale tomorrow?! In that case... Mods, please erase Post #26! What I MEANT to say is:

Disney has an OBLIGATION to open the Parks, hurricane or no hurricane! If people get swept away while waiting in line to buy pins, well... survival of the fittest! Those people must not have been serious collectors! And if non-pin-buyers get swept away in other parts of the Parks, well... no great loss!

Hint: The author is a man, and he currently writes for a Florida newspaper.

The book itself was wicked funny. I highly recommend it.

What is the complete destruction of the Florida Theme Parks and the possible death of my dear, dear friends compared to the uninterrupted operation of the LP Winter Bash?! What the heck was I THINKING, wasting my time and energy on this thread?!?!

Witches and TDLFAN -- good luck, but don't bother letting me know if you're in trouble! I've got more important things to do! Hope you're not knocked unconscious by a flying FastPass sign or a wind-born ocelot! Kiss, kiss -- stay safe!

This thought brought to the front of my midn something that I feel terribly guilty about. :( I'm hoping the BAH is sucked up and away and that the wand is damaged enough it has to be torn down. Man, do I feel horrible for thinking like this! UGHHHHHHH

10 lashes with a wet noodle for me.

Stay very very safe, everyone in the path of this storm - saw just now on cnn.com tghat it's a category 3 right now with 116-mph winds! :-O
