By not fighting nasty with nasty? Probably, and it's too bad. But it also says a lot (again) about the other side.

Originally Posted By mawnck >>How exactly have the democrats "thrown it away"? By not fighting nasty with nasty? << Partly. The Repubs now have a candidate who is talking turkey and getting specific about the sort of change he is for, and a VP who is a bigger Rock Star than Obama ever was. Generic speeches about "I was for change first" aren't even going to be noticed in this situation. The Dems job now is to take back the news cycle by any means necessary. They've got to get back on offense, and they're blowing it big-time. My strategy would be to have Obama up the media appearances and stop talking in speechwriter jargon, and send Hillary out to be the official assassinate Palin person - IE make statements so vicious that the news media will be clamboring to report on the dirt she's slinging. I call it the Paris vs. Lindsay plan. Or Duff vs. Lavigne. Whatever. Just somebody PLEASE take this Alaskan loony on before they elect HER President. >>But it also says a lot (again) about the other side.<< Yep. It says they're gonna win this election (again).

All that Sarah Palin crud out there is being generated by Auto-bots, right? I honestly think that the sudden resurgence of McCain's candidacy has created a total lack of perspective on the left. It's a black/white world, the right is pure ignorance and evil, and the left is just too good and kind to dare oppose it. What a load.

And he does it well (guess he learned from experience, back when he was the poor sap being bludgeoned).

That's why we'll be saying President Palin in a couple years. The Dems are blind to the real reasons the Repubs are surging right now. They have 2 months to figure it out and counter it.
