I understand you're a management guy (apologist would likely be another accurate label), but to compare a home to a hotel room is absurd on so many levels. Different strangers don't sleep in my home every night ... shedding hair and skin, spewing bodily fluids out of multiple orifices. They don't eat in my home, let their kids run ragged in home, and engage in sexual activity in my home. You see, that's why you need Mousekeepers that CLEAN your rooms ... not make towel-animals and pose plush, so that goofballs can post how magical that was on Disney fan sites, while God knows what is on the floor, the bedding, the furniture etc ... Disney used to be better-than-average at this until some consultant (who they likely paid six or seven figure to) told them they could improve productivity and cut labor and equipment costs by eliminating vacuums from the housekeeping carts. I can't wait to see the 'Would you pay $400 a night for this?' story(ies) ... Hey, Al ... and InoverherheadMeg, you may want to get Zenia working on the press release now!

My friends think I'm a freak because I vacuum my entire house and scrub down the bathrooms religiously once a week. If a hotel wasn't clean, and I've stayed in more hotels that were filthy than clean, I would be the first to notice.

And don't get me started on the "Treat us as your home - we'll change the sheets and the towels when we darn well feel like doing it".

No, but then I don't have thousands of people staying at my house a year and having to change out the guest room daily. So, I can see the need NOT to vaccuum every day. A hotel is different. It's like a hospital where you need to sterilize things before you use them again. Hotel rooms should be cleaned thoroughly for each new guest.

In other words, you shouldn't walk into trash on the floor and unmade beds and a dirty looking bathroom. But really cleaning? Sanitizing the telephones and remotes? Washing down walls where suspcious stains appear? Moving the nightstand and cleaning behind it (so for example you don't walk in and have loads of dust and cookie wrappers like my current room at WDW does)? Nah. That's not important. But, hey, the carpeting appears reasonably clean and I do have towel animals ... WHOOOO-HOOOOOOO! This is the Spirit reporting live from Where Magic Lives or Where Dreams Comes True ... I guess marketing has never heard of things getting lost when you send out competing messages.

What could Disney possibly do?>> The spirited choices are endless ... but that's fodder for an upcoming book project that I am very seriously thinking of writing. But if you think Disney plays nice, or more accurately some of its mid-level, small-minded execs, you're living beyond Fantasyland ... way out in the hinterland of Toowntown Faire ;-) Oh, I'll leave this post on a good note ... no more Ivory soaps and shampoo I wouldn't use on my dog anymore. New stuff, including higher end products for the deluxes and still usable products for the values and mods. Why? Well, it seems a little spirit told me that a Disney exec's wife couldn't believe what was being used at the deluxe resorts and put up quite a stink after her holiday visit ... so now, Disney has improved something that really was an embarrassment. Sadly, I guess she didn't mind the thin white towels! Look for more WDW observations later this week! Wait ... I think I just saw the eyes on my towel animal move ... the MOuse is always waaaaaatching.....aghhhhhhhhh
