This is not "fiscal responsibility" - this is the reactionary politics of "no". About what you'd expect from a two year old.

If they want to unseat the current president, how come they throw their support behind candidates that don't have a snowball's chance of being nominated, let alone elected? And then jump ship every other month? First it was Trump, then it was Bachmann, now it's Perry. Next month it'll be someone else.

    <a href="http://www.chron.com/life/houston-belief/article/Perry-s-Houston-prayer-summit-blurs-lines-between-1683179.php" target="_blank">http://www.chron.com/life/hous...3179.php</a>

"Gov. Rick Perry's Aug. 6 day of prayer and fasting at Reliant Stadium is generating significant heat nationwide, with critics protesting the exclusively Christian focus of the event and Perry's partnership with the controversial American Family Association, which advocates against gay rights."

    (snip)

"To host the Reliant Park event, Perry chose the Mississippi-based American Family Association, a nonprofit that operates a network of 192 radio stations with 2 million followers that has been labeled a "hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center for what the SPLC calls the dissemination of "known falsehoods" about homosexuality. The AFA also has called for numerous boycotts against companies and entities it says "promote the homosexual agenda."

Got that, Donny. The man leading the GOP polls for president asked the AFA, officially a "hate group" according to the Southern Poverty Law Center (who tracks hate groups), and which you yourself said was extremist, to host his event. He could have asked dozens of other groups or church alliances. He chose the AFA. Because the AFA has been thick into GOP politics for a looooong time, much as you hate to admit it.

(more from the link): "Noel Freeman, head of the Houston GLBT Political Caucus, said his organization did not take offense with "the event itself. If Governor Perry wants to have a prayer event, that's his prerogative. The thing we take exception to is that his primary partner in this is an anti-gay hate group. They are primarily known for that fact. This was not a secret to either Governor Perry or his staff."

Oh, and for a little more on the blatant hypocrisy of both Perry and the AFA, check this little tidbit out:

    <a href="http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/08/23/1009793/-American-Family-Association-defends-Rick-Perrys-porno-past" target="_blank">http://www.dailykos.com/story/...rno-past</a>

"You would think that the American Family Association—the Christian extremist hate group that is forever seeking to answer the question "Who would Jesus boycott?"—would have a problem with teabagger darling and Bible-thumper Rick Perry's past investment in porn distributor Movie Gallery, Inc. After all, AFA has been leading a boycott of the company for the past decade, for its "hard-core sex videos" that "poses a serious threat to our communities!”

But AFA was also a sponsor of Perry's prayer-a-thon earlier this month, which, to the untrained ear, sure sounds a little hypocritical.

Alas, and praise Jesus, the AFA has found a loophole and wants everyone to know there is absolutely no hypocrisy in supporting Perry while boycotting a company in which he'd invested thousands of dollars. Via Wonkette:

'Mr. Perry had divested himself of Movie Galley stock long before its involvement in the sale of pornography was even on the AFA’s radar, and five years before AFA launched its public boycott.'

Oh. Well, that explains everything, doesn't it? Obviously, it would be downright un-Christian of AFA to hold Perry's investment against him since it all happened before AFA was paying attention. And shame on the media for being so unfair to Perry!

Tim Wildmon, president of AFA, said, “The media has taken a grossly unfair and gratuitous shot at Gov. Perry. This represents sloppy reporting at its worst. A simple call to AFA could have clarified the timeline for anyone interested in reporting the objective truth. This is the ultimate non-story, and every media outlet that carried this slander owes the governor an apology.”

Yes, yes, I'm sure the collective media will be issuing its apology to Perry any minute now."

Note that Wildmon doesn't deny that Perry was an investor in the porno company. Only that he was investor before the AFA knew about it. And somehow THIS means the media owes Perry an apology! These people truly have no shame.

(For more on Perry's porn investments, see: <a href="http://www.politicususa.com/en/rick-perry-investment-porn" target="_blank">http://www.politicususa.com/en...ent-porn</a>

Among other things, you'll find "Rick Perry later passed laws to help companies like Movie Gallery avoid “frivolous” tort suits, after they were sued for allegedly violating the law by illegally distributing porn across state lines. This move was seen by some as a move to protect his investment in Movie Gallery,")

As for other Republican presidential hopefuls, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and then-considering-running Mike Huckabee and Haley Barbour all appeared on Bryan Fischer's radio show (yes, the same AFA guy we're talking about from the first post) and sought its endorsement.

Last year, Michele Bachmann attended a "prayercast" (along with two other prominent GOP congresspeople) hosted by the Family Research Council - a different but similar group, and this "prayercast also included - yep - Bryan Fischer of the AFA.

Bachmann signed the pledge calling for a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. And, of course, Bachmann's husband runs an (unlicensed) "clinic" that practices the discredited "pray away the gay" so-called therapy that all legit psychological and sexual-study groups say is ineffective (Marcus should know!) and can be downright harmful to the patient. Needless to say, the AFA is very supportive of this kind of "therapy."

The AFA is not fond of Romney and Hunstman, but you don't have to an expert on reading between the lines to know that as Mormons the AFA considers them "suspect Christians" and would never back them to begin with.

So there you are. All the major GOP candidates for president in 2012 are either cozy with the AFA, seeking their endorsement, or disqualified from the endorsement by being Mormon.

The AFA and similar groups are also deeply entwined with the GOP on the congressional, state, and local levels, especially in the South. The list of GOP state and local candidates who have sought and received AFA endorsement is way longer than I could list here.

So, Donny, I know you'd like to THINK that the AFA is this extremist group that has no influence with the Republican party... but the evidence show clearly that, as I said before, they are an extremist group WITH considerable influence in the Republican party.

a). "The other guy does it too" is not a good defense.

b). If you're referring to Wright, he pales by comparison. Even so, Obama disavowed Wright.

<But no I think you are very wrong that the whole GOP is backing the AFA>

I'm sure it's comforting for you to believe that, and it's easy for you to just blithely say that. However, the facts are the facts, and you need to face them.

Every major GOP presidential contender has appeared on Fischer's radio show, and/or sought the AFA's blessing, except the two guys who know they can't get it anyway, for the sin of being Mormon.

And if I listed every state and local Republican who has sought and received the AFA's blessing, you'd be scrolling down from now till Tuesday.

It may not be the "whole" GOP, but it's an awfully large percentage.

    What post was that?

The closest I'm seeing was #4 where RT pointed out that sodomy laws could (and once upon a time were) used against straight couples having oral sex.

I'm not sure which post you're reading the way you are; perhaps I missed it, or perhaps you're just off the mark.

The only thing I can think of is that he thought the few posts after number 4 were joking about anal instead of oral. Otherwise, I dunno where he got that one.

Plano, you may want to read the posts you are responding to a little more carefully in the future...you sounded a little crazy there.
