Oh, don't be so hard on yourself, JB. You're just as bright as Billy Crystal, and I'm sure even funnier than Einstein!

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry your church as a kid told you your mother was in hell. In my church we don't believe suicide is an automatic ticket to hell, because as believers, our sins were forgiven before we commited them, when Christ died on the cross. So if a believer commits suicide, it is already forgiven. We are forgiven our sins when we accept Jesus as our savior. Sometimes as Christians we still have emotional and mental problems. I myself suffer from panic attacks and anxiety, and I know several other Christians who do also.

We are not perfect just because we are forgiven, we have the same problems as everyone else. And sometimes those problems are depression and/or anxiety.

Exactly, and if anyone would know be able to judge your mental anguish and judge accordingly, it would be God. I can't imagine a God who would judge a person in that much pain harshly. After all, being in a depression so deep that one would commit suicide really is hell in itself.

whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God has passed over the sins that were previously committed,
to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Were is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law."

This is saying we are justified by faith ALONE.
Also, the first verse is part of the issue we have with making Mary Holy. It says ALL have sinned, that includes Mary. Because we are born sinful creatures. The only one without sin is God, who was born as Jesus, without sin.

Is this not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon and Judas?""

I think somewhere in the Bible it refers to them as half-brothers, but I don't have my good study Bible with me. It's my quest to look for that passage though! ;)
