When the fire was finally put out the entire car had completely burnt to the frame. Disney held the car for several years in a warehouse because of 3 lawsuits filed. All were settled out of court. I have the unique priviledge of being the person in charge of the monorail system the night of the fire. My wife called me as the fire was going on and I said...CANT TALK NOW. At 11 she turned on the news and saw the footage on the news.

After awhile the head from the metal made the plastic shell melt and then the air bag system (which is the suspension system) exploded and flamed the melting with a rush of air (think of a fireplace bellow). That caused the train to catch fire.
