We are first driving to Phoenix for a wedding and then on to DL.

MM - I hope those guys are behaving better now that you have the duct tape.

TX...I'm with your DH on the flying thing. The ONLY time I get on plane is to go to DL or San Diego. Express Jet is the bomb...I might broaden my horizons...they also fly to Reno. mater...aren't you from around there? Darn...where's that flow chart???

Well...while I appreciate the duct tape, it wound up not being needed.

To tell the truth, my boss and DH are interviewing a replacement for the main guy I wanted dead as we speak.

I think it had something to to with me going into my boss' office and tossing files and files of this guys screw ups on his desk, and yelling, "I'm done...handle this c**p yourself." Luckily we are friends with my boss and his wife outside of w**k, so I can say stuff like that and be okay. Plus, it's no surprise to him what's been going on with this worker. I've threatened to dump the c**p on his desk at least 20 times before if somethig didn't change. My boss kept asking me to be patient, but good Lord, enough is enough. Losing thousands of dollars a month because some guy is an idiot is ridiculous. We're talkin' bloomin' idiot. This guy cost us $9500 just this past wednesday. I finally asked Reg (my boss) where I would be if I did my job half as poorly as this moron. Reg said, "the unemployment line." No s**t, Sherlock. I told Reg that I was NOT going to babysit this guy, or clean up his mistakes, or do any of his flippin' job for one more second. (I didn't use the word "flippin"...fill in the blank yourself.) In the 15 years that I have w**ked for Reg, this is only the 3rd time I have slammed his door and flipped out in his office, so he new I was serious. The idiot I want dead has w**ked here for 17 years and STILL can't do his job correctly...I kid you not. We tell him over and over and over what we need done...we have sent him to school...I made him a "How To Do Your Job" binder. He STILL can't do it. This morning he messed something up. I explained to him how it needed to be done...this is nothing new for him...he's been doing this for 17 YEARS. Within 20 minutes, he made the SAME mistake 2 MORE TIMES!!! That was it...I was done. Reg is hiring a new guy to do the job. The idiot won't get fired, but he'll be moved elsewhere where he can do less damage. Reg also came back from lunch with a bottle of Tarantula and a tootsie roll for me. That's a start......

Hey, what is the deal with the high hotel rates? What is going on the weekend of the 2nd I don't know about?

I doubt many decorations will be up that soon after halloween - I know IASW will be closed for holiday overlay - The offical start date for the holidays would be 11/16 - why don't you just leave on a friday after school and come back sunday evening - I just looked on Jetblue you could fly out of oakland into longbeach for $59 at 5:00 on 12/7 and get back to oakland from longbeach before 8 for $69... Long Beach is closer that SNA - I didn't look at other airlines - you would be sure to see all the holiday stuff that weekend - Always glad to help plan a DL trip :)
You could use priceline and name your own price if you can't find a good deal on a hotel (I have ended up with great hotels that way) - SO now no excuses!!

Well gotta go DS18 has a job interview with walmart in 30 min...

As far as reporting SIL - that has been discussed - but she puts on a great show and in the long run the turmoil that would put on the kids would probably be worse than what they live with now - I would say once she talked her way through the investigation - the kids would be put through so much picking on to see if what they said!! BY the way she is the youngest of 7 and most of the time her siblings feel the same way I do about her!! They have suggested to her on more than on occasion she needs help....

We ate that one and now I don't have any for the am.)

Mickey, I still haven't seen the photo. DS said he has another 50 photos to upload in addition to the 1310. (HA!) I'm not expecting it to be very flattering, my eyeballs were probably rolling back in my head. Do you remember when your DH showed me where the secret bathroom was in DL? I never found it again during our trip! That's how sleepy I was! I looked up airfare for you for the weekend of 11/9-11/12 and if you leave in the eve on the 9th and return in the eve on the 12th it's about $142 pp Oakland to LGB. Hojos rates were high, but I always make out better when I call them. The Castle was $84 per night. That place isn't too bad, we stayed there once. It'll do in a pinch, but it's no Hojo's.

rt, I am so sorry about your bff. It must be so sad putting up the decorations and thinking of how much you miss her. I can understand why you haven't changed your theme. My theme has always been that I don't have a theme. It's just a mess of stuff and b/c it's Christmas, somehow it always looks nice together. (Well, as nice as it can at MY house!)

Villains, I wish your son luck with his job interview! Now that he's 18, does he still have to trade holidays every other year, or can he decide to stay with you from now on? I'd hate having to give up one of my kids for Christmas, I like the way you took care of it, though. Very clever. Just celebrate a day early.

Oh, that corkscrew canyon remark really had me lol, Mickey! That was classic! Oh, what fun we're going to have with that!

I hope w%$k is almost over MM, you deserve a nice weekend after a bad day. any jello shots made?
The last week of the month has always been the busiest with my little j*b, but times are so bad I only had one appt. this week. It's tonite at 8PM. The only other calls I had were for the same time and when I offered to go later, they said they'd get back to me and never did. So, my $50 appt. tonite and my $45 I made on Tues. are it for the week. Yikes! We'll have to learn how to steal food while we're in DL from V's sil! ;)

mickey...actually, the idiot at w**k DOES cost us all money. In our department, we get our usual pay, plus a bonus based on a percentage share of the monthly profit. This guy crabs and crabs that he doesn't think he makes enough money, but yet if he would just do his job correctly, his bonus would go up like all the rest of ours. He just doesn't care, and he's said that. Sad, actually.

Looks like our crack group of travel agents has found you some reasonable prices for a quickie trip, mickey. You ALWAYS go around the holidays...might be something to think about.

tink...find the picture...I think mickey would be outnumbered as to showing it or not. We all want to see it.

tink you sure are finding some good bargains on those air fares! i'm going to assign you the job of finding me some good rates. well, i have decided it's too early for good rates for next summer still. but i too look every day.

thank you every one for understanding about my b.f.f. i'm usually not sad at christmas time. i enjoy the decorating and the memories. anyway, what about halloween? what are your traditions? i posted on community that the kids tell jokes at the door to get their treats in this area of the country. it's a hoot! if you hear the car in the oven or the chicken crossed the road joke once, you'll hear it fifty times that night. and those teen agers get pretty clever with their jokes, too. sometimes i will dress up to answer the door, but something simple and not scary. and not like that cinderella costume that was referredto a few posts back. although wouldn't that get the neioghbors talking. after all it has been prety quiet around here without any kids living at home.

mm. what do the grandkids call you? i kind of sort of didn't think i would like the grandma thing so much. all our friends have their cutsey names their grandkids call them. the lebonese version, the greek version, the all american version, etc. so. i though i would call to my tribes office nd and see what thenative american word(in peoria langauge) would be. way cool, huh! well grandpa is mesha. this is good. and grandma is nuhawkwa. not so good. it sounds like you have something stuck in you throat. you have to make that little throat sound when you say it. but our addi has shortened it to hawkwa,so good enough.

it's friday night-let's go out to eat-catch you later!

Tink makes pumpkin bread - but not enough for the whole class?!?!? I guess I will have to keep an eye on her at DL with the food and all!!
Mickey I would go in Dec - or you can always go in Jan when I do - I am going the 1st - 4th the dec's will still be up and all only Santa will be gone!!
So DS18 did the interview and all went well - he has a follow up on tuesday - problem is if he takes it he has to work 36hrs a week and his days off are tues/thurs for school and when he told them he needed the weekend off to go with me to DL (he said a family obligation) they told him nobody gets extra time off from Thanksgiving week through the end of the year - so now he's stressing as he wouldn't get to see GF for 8 whole weeks...poor baby!! I explained to him that if the goal is to have a job and make money so they can move in together next summer (after she turns 18) then sacrifice for the end goal is worth it - hey the GF already has 2 jobs anyway (Macy's and Jamba Juice)!!
Mater the house we are renting is in the Skyline Pines area - I am assuming it is a nice area and I got a good deal as the beginning of that week wasn't listed as prime time and he neglected to include Thanksgiving as a holiday on his website so we got the place for just under $1500 for the whole week (sun-sat) so my sis is in for $600 but she won't be up until wed (her kids don't get the whole week off this year - but they get a week off in Feb) So we will have the place to ourselves the beginning of the week - although this will be the first time leaving DS18 home alone - but GF lives 5 hours away and he will have to go to his dads on Thanksgiving (something he has never done as that's always been my holiday and his dad takes Easter).

MM hope you have a great weekend -

Everyone else I will check in over the weekend and we can make fun of MM for living in Tum Tum and on Corkscrew Canyon (I think she's lying and she really lives on Loosescrew Lane) :p

Rt - really sorry about your friend - I lost both my grandmothers last year and it was very hard - I miss them so much and even though they were old they were the matriarch's of our family and since my parents are divorced now I have kind of been thrown into that role as the oldest girl in the family - not a role I wanted...

Mickey I think the Dec trip would be best you could alway go the first weekend and meet up with those of us that will already be there - boy that would get MM's goat!!

MM you could not have a better street to live on. LOL! It's perfect.
Villians I am not too familiar with South shore Tahoe but my DH is a little. That's great that you got a good deal on the house for the week.
I have had a busy day myself. I started off by having my nails filled (yes, they are fake) and then stopped by my house to pick up my kids. DD had a party to attend and we needed a gift. So off to the Disney store (where else would we go). Bought the gift and started to head home. I was preparing to turn onto the freeway when I noticed a man on a bike crossing the entrance to the on- ramp so I stop. Well the person behind me did not. I spent the next hour with NHP getting a report for a traffic accident. Everybody is fine. I have had a little neck and back pain but will see where it goes from here. Needless to say my Nissan Titan held up and the damage is mostly on the bumper. You can barely notice it and my truck is still drivable. The BMW X5 however was munched in the front and had to be towed. After all is said and done we drive home and DD still gets to go to her party. Now I will spend next week going after the insurance co.(other drivers) trying to get my truck repaired. Have a great weekend!

Free Pass Rules: No matter what Mater says, we will bite our tongues, and duct tape our mouths if need be, so as not to retort sarcastically, shamelessly, or in anyway that can be construed as anything but kindly & sweet. (This will be toughest on MM, but I know even she can do it! I'll even send her another bottle of Tarantula if need be)

    Once again-- all in favor?

In all seriousness, I am so very glad you are all safe! I know its a bummer that your truck is damaged, but it is so much easier to replace a bumper than someone you love. God Bless you and your family! :hugs:

Villians you are correct about the booster seat. My DS does still use one. We will be replacing it immediately. That was one of the first things DH told me. What would I do without him? I wish I was rearended at indy.

What a PITA. Why don't people pay attention when they are driving? One night this week while I was waiting for a person on a bike to go by I was getting honked at so bad and the cars behind me were all trying to go around me because they couldn't see the guy on the bike. So, they almost hit him as he crosses on the side they are passing me on. Why can't people just be patient for a minute, it's not like they're going to get where they're going that must faster. There's still a red light up ahead.

Villains, your DS should be able to convince the Walmart folks that he has plane tix to visit his grandmother that week, don't you think? They should be so happy to have him working there that they'll spare him for a few days. I'd hate to see him miss out on a trip to DL and the gf. It would be awful for you, too. You'll really miss him. He's been on the last 2 trips and he needs a break from the extra guests, if you know what I mean ;) It would be so nice for him to be with just the immediate family. (and the gf)

My pumpkin bread recipe is as old as the hills.I think it's from one of those old Betty Crocker books that my sister had. I scribbled it on a piece of paper about 20 years ago and believe it or not, I still have it! It's good, it's nice and moist.

    Here it is:

    3 1/2 c flour
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    3 c. sugar
    1 c oil
    4 eggs
    2/3 c water
    1 can pumpkin (1 lb)

    Mix together until smooth.
    Grease pan.
Bake 350 for an hour or until toothpick comes out clean.

I get 2 large loaf pans and one or two small loaf pans out of each batch. I use 2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice in place of the cinnamon and nutmeg.

I didn't try to order anything from the site with the mudslides. I checked it out, though. I saw the mudslides cost $14 and I thought I'd check the prices out in DE on my next trip there! See which was the better deal. I need some of that cheap imitation Bailey's, too. Especially with the holidays coming up. When I read about all of the shopping everyone is getting done, I'll need a drink or two.

This is very important for you and Mater, there are only a few days left before Halloween and you need to go to McDonald's to buy those treat coupons. You know the ones that you get a pack of 12 for $1 and there are coupons for free french fries, soda, ice cream and cookies? Then you can use them on your way back to Hojos for free treats for the kids. (Except, I don't think Villains is staying there.) I am going to buy some, too, although last year I had a hard time because my kids are quite obviously not 12 anymore and the Mickey D's there is quite a stickler for details! lol Maybe, I can order 3 ice cream cones and have the kids stand outside and tell the McD people they are too tired to come in or something. Ask your SIL, Villains, she'll know what I can do! :)

    Have a good night everyone!

I hope Mickey's DD's show was another success!
