Wow I had 40 something posts to read. for just 2 days.
I feel for you all with odd family members that make life h**l for others and they just don't seem to realise what they do and what chaos they create.
Hope the car is fixed and ok.
Am planning to continue christmas shopping this week but will not wrap till I have a few to do. I usually put our christmas tree up on Dec 1 and have a few decorations around the kitchen and family room.
Hope everyone's weekend had been great.
    TQ

    (714) 776-6120 ask for IN-HOUSE reservations. (Don't get tangled up in that toll free number.) Ask for the entertainment rate. I'll be waiting to hear the good news...

Mater - I am sorry to hear about your wreck. Drivers can be so rude and impatient. I was rear ended before while I waited for a school bus to load with kids and the stupid car behind me didn't pay attention to a school bus. I am glad you are okay. I know it is a pain to get your car fixed. I'm in favor of you getting a free pass this week. We will be nice.

Mickey - I hope your daughters gig went well. You will have to let us know. Although, I am not sure I am speaking to you after you wrapped 17 packages. That is just sickening. LOL

Instead of shopping for Christmas which is only two months away, I decided to make some clothes for our Disney trip in 5 months. I made a Nemo shirt and skirt outfit for the DD1 as well as some Nemo overalls. When I say made, I mean I bought plain clothes cheaply at Walmart and then added decorations to it. I wish I knew how to sew and really make clothes. We also bought my DD17 and my DS13 stuff to make a shirt. DD17's is going to say "Some Day My Prince Will Come" and DD13 is going to be something Pirates, but we are not sure yet. We are thinking about it saying "Yo Ho Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life For Me". Do you guys have any other ideas? I also have some other things for the DD1 that are Princess themed to make.

RT...you asked if I w**k at a trucking firm. No, but in the auto business. I work for a Ford dealership.

You also asked what the grandkids call me. I'm not sure what they call me behind my back, but to my face the 1 yer old just smiles because she isn't talking much yet...the 2 year old calls me grama, and the 8 year old calls me chickie-babe...because I told her to. I wasn't too sure about the "grama" thing at first, but I got used to it. As long as they didn't call ne "Nana" I was ok.

mater...how are you feeling today? Thank God you weren't seriously injured.

mickey...report needed on your DD's performance. Also...we have to be nice to mater for the WHOLE WEEK??? I need a judges ruling on this one....shoot, mater IS the judge. Ok, one week it is. That's pretty brutal, though.

tink...the punkin' bread recipe sounds so good....send me 3 loaves, will ya? Preferably not burnt. DD made punkin' pancakes at school the other day, and she said they were terrific. I'm not a pancake fan, but I think I'd like those.

villains...you need to call HoJo again to see if you can get the Entertainment rate. Geez...don't they know who you are? Oh, maybe they do and that's the problem. Also, I'm not sure whether to say "congrats" to your DS on the job prospect or not. Missing a trip to DL AND his sweetie, too?

TQ...the HoJo Entertainment rate is a special deal that you get with a coupon that is in what's called the Entertainment Book. The book has coupons for restaurants, car rentals, movies, all kinds of things. You can purchase the book for a particular area...say the area you live in, or an area that you will be traveling to. For HoJos, you get in touch with Willie there,(call the hotel directly, not the toll free #) and ask him for the entertainment rate...$54 is the deal you'll get. You MUST present your coupon when you check in. The entertainment rate is not always available, but you can usually get it during the "off season", though.

Someone asked what English Matrimonials are a bar cookie with raspberry filling.

    1-1/2 C flour
    1 C brown sugar
    1-1/2 C rolled oats
    3/4 C butter
1 12oz can of Solo raspberry pastry filling, or 12oz of seedless raspberry jam

Mix together flour, sugar, rolled oats until it resembles little pebbles. Press 1/2 mixture into 9 x 13 pan sprayed with cooking spray. Spread raspberry filling over this up to 1/4 inche of edges. Spread the rest of the crumb mixture over the top of the raspberry and light press. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until edges are browned. Cool and cut into bars.

From what I understand these cookies are served as wedding favors and date back to medieval times. Or so I have been told. Our church used to do a rennaisance faire and I used to bake them for the faire.

The rest of the weekend was spent making Halloween costumes. A wedding reception for my nephew's out-of-town wedding last month was also in the mix.

    Everyone have a great Monday.

MM - Sorry for your w**k woes.

TQ, if you need help with an ent card, we could hook you up. I'm not sure if they have them all the way on the other side of the world! I buy a card on Ebay for a couple of bucks. I've never made out too good with that giant book of coupons. I always forget all about them and they all expire before I use any of them. I just get the card for the Hojo discount.

The cookies sound good, MMW. Today I have brownies in the oven. Hopefully I won't burn them.

TX, the clothes sound ADORABLE! Back in the day, I used to love to decorate the plain tees so the boys had matching shirts for our Disney trips. The trip we took to WDW, where they all ditched me, we all had on matching Christmas Disney sweatshirts that I made. I got a lot of compliments & folks asking where I got them...that is before they all ditched me. I'll try to think of something Pirate's themed.

The toiletries bag being packed is something I do, too. I just leave it packed with all of the little travel sized things and replace whatever needs replacing before the next trip. Some things, like vitamins, I , of course, put new things in for each trip. On Sat. we had a really bad rainstorm and our ceiling leaked in the room where I keep the toiletry bag. There was a puddle in there and now I don't even want to look at it. I have put it in the sun to dry and will assess the damage at a later time.

TX that is a great idea for disney shirts. I am not as crafty as I would like to be sometimes and can't sew to save my life. Your idea sounds simple though. MM I will cut you some slack since I am doing well. I know it is hard for you to hold your tongue. As far as Hojo's knowing Villians I think they know her guests more.HeHe. Tink I will try your pumpkin bread recipe it sounds yummy. I usually get the boxed kind at Costco. I have to make cranberry nut bread next week. I will provide the recipe later if anyone wants it. It is tradition to have it on christmas morning in my family. Tink I hope that ceiling leak is not going to be a big problem for you. When we bought our house my DH took a bath the first night in our upstairs bath. He filled the tub and drained it when finished. I go downstairs for a glass of water and the ceiling was leaking lots of water. To make a long story short since it was a new house the builder paid to fix everything and the cause was the plumbers forgot to seal the overflow valve when building the house. I will check back later as I have some errands to run.

I don't have to worry about how far I am as I have the PAP (of course) so my parking is free...

I would look for other accommodations but my "favorites" are still on the other computer so until hubby moves all my stuff in the house and I have my favorites back...right now I have the Islander for $321 for two queens and a sofa bed...that is with tax!!

It was me that asked what the heck English Matrimonials were. Raspberry is my most favorite flavor, so I've gotta try those. DD loves to bake, so maybe we can give these a whirl.

Someone started a question about vacation packing. Sounds like our poll on christmas shopping. For us, I pack in March for an August trip. I buy all new stuff so I don't have to do laundry right before we leave. DH and DD think I'm nuts...right up until the time they open their suitcases and see all new stuff to wear, and all new toiletries...then they thank me very much. I lock up the suitcases after I'm done packing so that DH and DD don't get into them and mess up the stuff or get something dirty. I's an odd thing to do actually, but like christmas shopping, I get it done early, and then I can relax and be stress free.

Glad to hear that you're feeling ok, mater, and that your vehicle will be fixed. See, I can TOO be nice, mickey.

Congrats the new computer, Villians. I remember when we got this one, which is mine alone and how much I liked it. Have fun playing with it.

I better get back to w**k.

Tink - I think my mom may be backing out of the upcoming trip - She's in real estate and we know the Ca market is bad right now...She's looking at getting a part time job to hold her over - she has some money coming in with my dad's (her x) pension, recent x's spousel support, small child support from aunt from mother's side- but my uncle and his girlfriend really never held real jobs so there are no survivor benifits to help with the costs of raising an 8 year old... She has free tickets for the park from my uncle (he works with the cast members in the fine dining end of the parks). So I maybe only taking my younger two to the park with me!!

Mater you feeling better today - good news about the vehicle repairs - seems like you have plenty of time before your trip to get it done!!How are the rooms - any final decisions on decor??

Mater, so happy you are doing well and the truck is being taken care of! Well, since YOU are calling off the good will guesture, I guess it is once again a free-for-all. Had it been me, I would of used it to my best advantage--- as MM will attest to. She once promised to be nice to me for a day--- oh, and I truly did my best to antagonize, and gosh darn that woman kept her word! Imagine! That woman's word is her bond! hehehe, but it was fun trying.....

Villians, congrats on the new computer! Gotta love that one! Ours also recently took a dive and we found ourselves having to buy a new one. Oh, darn it anyways. *wink*

MM- Now, I actually remembered you worked at a Ford dealership, imagine that! Something I DID remember.

DD's performance went great on Saturday night! She did an awesome job and got lots of compliments, which reminds me, I need to send out an evalutation form today.

Tink-- Like you, I never remember to look at the Ent. Book coupons. But, my daughter loves to go through it and find us discounts when we are going someplace. I.E. Yesterday we went to the movies and she saved us $8. Have to love a girl who looks after her parents money!

I totally feel for you and the leak. We have an old Victorian that was built in the 1800s. The past 2 winters we have had a leak that we cannot find the origin of. We've had roofers, my hubby has scoured the place, still no luck. The only good news is that it is in a room we have not yet remodeled. This year, hopefully, we are going to tear it down to the studs and when we do, we can track the watermarks on the sheathing to see where the water is originating. Until then, I cringe every time it even sprinkles.

BTW, did I happen to mention brownies are my favorite?

I know I am missing out on something I should be responding to, so if I missed out on you, my sincere apologies!

    Happy Day everyone!

    :hugs:

mollysmom-i think we are packing clones. i love to get all new stuff before a trip, too. i plan shen to get all the new socks, undies, shoes and put it all in the suit case just waiting to leave. of course, i don't get to go to dl as often as some of you. usually about 2 or 3 times a year we go to las vegas , kansas city x1 and colorado every other year. hopefully our trips to dl will become annual or at least evey other year. i'll have to get the kids to pay at least a portion of the trip the next time. i really need to quit spoiling the little darlings. after all, they are grown adults now -and with kids of their own no less! if i could figure a way to capturethose grandkids and leave theirparents at home i'ld do it. but, my kids like dl as much as me, so no go.

I can relate to the leak too. When they built our house a couple years ago, they put nails in the plumbing in our closet when they put up the base boards. It was just a slow leak and in the closet so we didn't realize it until our carpet was nice and squishy. They had to come in and replace the carpet and cut holes in the wall to fix the plumbing.

MM - I am so proud of you being so nice even though Mater said she would cut you some slack. What restraint!

Mickey - How cool that you live in an old Victorian house. I have always thought those houses were so beautiful.
