But I remember the dark years in the early 80s recession, I remember Disney begging for guests to dine on property by handing out 20% coupons with lunch receipts during the '91 Gulf War. I remember paying $69 a night at mods and $109 a night for the WL from 2001-03 because they just couldn't fill the rooms.

If Disney is going to ignorantly keep building hotels and timeshares, I think I will keep taking advantage of their greed and stupidity of their execs.

I checked online at the official WDW site for availability of the Poly January 25-31. It offered either the Beach Club or the Wilderness Lodge instead. So apparently they are fully booked.

It doesn't really surprise me. The lousy economy isn't impacting those at the top of the food chain. They still have plenty of money for WDW vacations. It is those at the middle and bottom who are staying home... therefore the deals on Moderate and Value resorts. A big source of Disney Vacation money for the middle class is now gone... the home equity line of credit.

When we got there, I mentioned it when we were checking it. The CM said there were rooms for the other nights, but the travel agent probably only buys in groups of 7. So I wondered it that was the case with jmuboy. As a side, when we got to the second hotel, they didn't have us for that night, but for the next two! They did get us a room. Stupid travel agent, we never used them again.

Remember: the rich keep getting richer, because they keep ~doing the things that keep them rich~. The poor get poorer because they keep ~doing the things that keep them poor~. Nobody has a civil right to go on vacation. And if you think you do, go to a local national park.

The rich get richer because the great majority of their income is capital gains, and capital gains are taxed at 50% of the rate paid by us hard working wage earners.

Just a little reality check there mrkthompsn...

Sending the American manufactoring jobs to the chinese, while flooding the American labor force with cheap illegel labor, and massive tax cuts for the rich?

"The poor get poorer because they keep ~doing the things that keep them poor~."

Not overthrowing these 2 parties by voting in someone who cares about the American people.

But I agree. Our two-party system (oh, and I have been both a Democrat and a Republican and now would never align myself with either party ... just so you know where I'm coming from) is fundamentally broken and exists solely for one reason: it's good for big business and Wall Street.

If anyone here truly thinks there's all that much difference between Rudy and Hillary, we'll leave everyone else out since they don't have a chance, they're kidding themselves. No matter who is in the White House won't improve the lives of most Americans. And that's why our system is broken.

The government should work for us.

I thought one of the best lines from 'Sicko' was a woman (I think from Detroit) now living in Paris ... she said simply 'Here the government fears the people. That's true democracy. In our country the people fear the government.'

If that wasn't true before 9/11, it certainly is now.

you just proved my point. They do things to get capital gains in the first place. Meanwhile, the "poor" spend their hard-earned paychecks on Playstation 3, chrome rims and other useless cr@p that will never amount to anything.

And that I'll agree with. A lot of poor people are poor because of bad chioces. And a lot of ignorant people are taken advantage of by greedy people. a lot of rich people take advantage of their work force. A lot of companies reward their people very well.
Every situation is different. That is why I usually approach the disadvanged with compassion instead of disrespect and contempt. Even for the people who make bad choices, usually it is out of ignorance as opposed to stupidity.
Some people want to help the disadvantaged, some see them as marks. The rich do keep doing what has made them rich.
