He'd still be driving but you or someone else would be forced to come along. As well during this process your son may be further embarrased by a green and black sign stuck in your rear window telling the world he is a new driver. I further confess in Alberta he would have been driving for 2 years now (with parental permission, and minimum academic marks, but barred from highways)

They must have a learner's permit for 6 months, which they can only get after they turn 15 1/2, take a book-class and pass a test at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles. Then they must take 3 2-hour behind the wheel lessons from a certified school, practice for 50 hours with an adult over 25, wait for the 6 months to pass, then take a behind the wheel driving test from the DMV to get your actual license. Sounds like the only real difference is the sticker.
