When i was 9 yrs old I stole a Mickey Mouse Wizrd Figurine worth at that time $50 out of one of the stores in Fantasy Land. :-( I didnt feel bad about it till i was like 15 and now even much , much worse. The messed up thing is that the figurine is actully worth like $150 or more now. Im 26 now and have 2 kids. Ican honestly say that i've never stole anything b4 or even after that episode. Hubby suggest i give that figurine up for some charity. But for reals this has killed me for yrs now. I just recently told my paernts about it and man were they pissed, it made me feel like a kid again, and not in a good way. i think they really wanted to spank me. :( IM SORRY!!!! But not even confessing makes me feel better...

You are still a good person in my eyes just for being honest about it still bugging you.

I confess I think I've already told this story at some point on LP...

When I was in high school, I stole a set of silverware from a nice restaurant in an attempt to impress a friend. When I told my friend what I'd done, he was appalled. I then became instantly mortified at having stolen it.

The guilt *consumed* me for about a year. I finally tracked down the name of the restaurant, wrote an apology, and sent the letter and the silverware to them.

The people who own the restaurant sent me back the NICEST letter. They thanked me for returning the flatware, praised me for being honest in the end, and invited me to come in for a meal on them. That letter made all the difference to me. I was able to put the experience behind me.

Now, as an adult, I understand that good people -- like you and me -- sometimes do stupid things. It's human nature. We just have to do what we can to right them and to avoid repeating them in the future.

I think that either the charity idea or returning the item to Disneyland is a great idea. You may not get as "official" a pardon out of it as I did, but you'll know you did the brave and right thing and that you're not a bad person for the mistake you made at 9.

Ummm did you go get that free meal? And did they give you plastic silverware this time with your meal? :p Sorry Inspector 57 I couldn't resist! ;)
I am very proud of you though for returning it! :D

    Just kidding. LOL, Shanny!

No, I'd been there on vacation. It was several states away and I never got back. Too bad. I wanted to meet them and thank them in person.

Thank you! It was very scary to do, but I'm SO glad I did it. It taught me a lot about honesty and guilt and facing fears.

Which btw the way would be a totally fair question. My mom even kid me(atleast i think she was kidding ) that when we have our Winter DLR trip in Nov. that she's gonna take me by the ear and march me straight up to one of the store counters in the park and make me give MIckey back and apoligize to whoevers in charge. My hubby said that was a good idea. Leave it to family to really make you feel worse about a bad situation eh?

    LOL! That's a funny image!

    "Ouch! Mo-o-o-o-O-O-OM! Let go!!!"

But it doesn't work. It has to be -- and it is -- you going in voluntarily.

I'm just sure that if you went into the Disneyana store on Main Street and asked for the manager, then simply explained what happened and that you'd like to return Mickey, the manager would be all kinds of nice to you.

The only snag I can see to this plan is if Disneyland wouldn't have any use for the figurine. You wouldn't want to return it to them only to have them say, "Hmmmm. Doesn't have the box. Just toss it."

Either way -- whether you give it back to DL or sell it and give the proceeds to charity -- you're not a bad person because of something you did at 9 years old!

Thanks, but it's not. Just sat through the never ending corporate meeting where my division was dissed by the company head, and there was corporate-speak of "layoffs" happening.

That and emotional rollercosters have made this a special day to remember! I should pinch myself to make sure I'm awake!
