I rarely intentionally go above the speed limit but if I ever get pulled over for going one mile over the speed limit, I am going to be really, really mad. One freakin' mph? And it's double in a school zone. So, if I am going 21 mph in a school zone I could get a $182 fine? I'm not really worried; I usually drive about 12-15 mph because the kids make me nervous. I confess I was annoyed when my husband was pulled over for driving 41 mph in a 35 mph area. He was only given a warning but I have no idea why that took 45 minutes. I was annoyed because he was in a teeny, older car and yet I see giant SUVs driving 50 on that road, intimidating everyone. But, he was over the limit. Do most people drive a few mph over the limit? Isn't 5 miles over the "unwritten" limit or did I make that up? I confess that I don't know.
