    Because they don't want an old fart like me to come in, blow everyone out of the water, and then try to market a 52 year old chubby balding guy as a pop singer. Pop music is about youth, and it's hard to promote people past a certain age. Now, is 27 too young a limit? Yeah, I think it should be in the mid-30's or so.

    And the Rolling Stones' performance at the Super Bowl halftime a couple years back reinforces that American Idol shouldn't allow old people. As I recall, it was pretty awful. Not to say that there aren't any talented older people, but they just don't have as much time left that they can be big pop stars. When was the last time you saw pictures of Paul Simon driving around town doing generic errands? What about Paris Hilton?
