I actually think Mission:Space was that attempt -- I think they missed on it- but for what they spent I think they were trying to raise the bar on that one - would you not agree.

I also think Fantasmik was an attempt to raise the bar for fireworks displays

there is a huge gap between Disney Pollyana and those who aren't willing to just rip on most everything.

I criticize plenty - but disagree with some of the criticism-- I think most arguing viewpoints here fall either into that category or the Disney blooows category...most of the pixie dust posters are long gone

Yes and no. I love Mission: Space, and I think the ride system does a pretty good job of being innovative, but it fails when you consider the complete package. The queue is mediocre, the unthemed, unending hallway at the end is laughable, and the post show really doesn't have much EPCOT-y goodness.

Compare that to something like Spider-Man or Forbidden Journey or Haunted Mansion or the Jungle Cruise, and it's not even close.

<<I also think Fantasmik was an attempt to raise the bar for fireworks displays>>

If it wasn't a cloned show, I'd agree with you.

Very true. But this is one of the few sites that tolerates discussing the negatives of WDW. Most sites are now bought and paid for by the Mouse's social networking goons, and erase anything negative about the parks.

When you're driven off a site because you're critical about a few things, it's pretty ridiculous, and just strengthens the belief that the Mouse can do no wrong.

    Agreed totally.

It just needs to be a full pavilion.

And I would say that E:E was a VERY good attempt at trying and to raise the bar.

But...seeing that the Yeti is dead, that's negated.

    *Sigh*

I wish I could say it was. But I honestly don't think it was. I think Joe over valued the queue, and forgot about the ride. Because other than the temple on the lift, broken trestle, and the yeti, the ride is so bare.

It's suppose to be. The Himalayan Mountains aren't exactly a swinging local.

Not the point I'm trying to make. Look at the rockwork around BTM's helixes. Then look at the absolute lack of rockword around EE's.

But after the big hill, and during the helixes, you're on bare, unexposed track with absolutely nothing there for a good 20 seconds. It completely destroys the illusion and theming quality.
