LOVE-DCA interpreted it the same way. Be honest; you love debating this topic and can't resist.

But of course no one remembers that one lol.

My daughter actually said she didn't want to go to DLP on her birthday and wanted to stay on the MArriott resort that day. We had to lure her to get her to her surprise party. My son prefers Legoland to Disneyland now. And although we had a good time at DLP, we had a better time on our trip to Scotland. Truth is, toons do very little for us. The bread making and wine tasting of DCA was far more compelling than the new Jewel SSS. WoC looks great (but I would argue a history of california show with some winks at Disney would have been even better. I am looking forward to Carsland (but again, a land dedicated to Car culture not including licenced characters would have been as compelling). I am getting sick of toons, and the worst example is what is happening at WDSP. I think long term, it is going to hit Disney's business. Yes, there will always be kids, but there are less kids now than 10 or 20 years ago, and a lot more older people. Disney's original ethos of appealling to all ages was a far better model. And one I wish they would return to.

The Calif theme in actual CONTENT has been dead long ago . That said, I certainly get your point with the ridiculous toons popping everywhere. I TRY to be more positive about DCA and I like the new stuff coming obviously, but I STILL dont understand why this park is SO reliant on toons?? They litterally added a character to every single ride in PP. Every.single.one!! I try to stay out of the 'too many toons' arguments that goes on here, but Disney seems to think only princesses, the fab 5 and movie tie ins are what sells these days when they had a VERY long track record that other things work. Look at Soarin. A big sucess and now its in WDW and there was even rumors it could end up at TDR. The original stuff gets just as many lines as the cartoon stuff so I dont get it? And instead we get Carsland going in at this park (which looks GREAT, but it would be just as great without the movie tie in) and the Toy Story land junk going into HKDL and WDSP. At least DCA is getting some REAL attractions there. That stuff is sad regardless.

I've said it a million times before - the parks now feel more like a Disney branded extension of the company's marketing arm rather than a place for people to escape and have fun as Walt Disney intended. Like Dave I've found that I spend time visiting other places instead. I've been to Southern California twice in the last year and skipped DLR altogether. I would like to see WOC this year, and if I do, I probably won't go back before Carsland opens. I have no plans or intentions to visit any other Disney park in the foreseeable future, which really feels strange for me to say. I almost have more fun discussing the parks in this community than visiting them in person.

" What's this "we," kemo sabe?>> LOL, 'we' as in the people who has been complaining about the place since day one and the fans who refuse to step in it, hence why Disney is throwing the $1.5 billion in the first place. I thought the 'we' was pretty obvious in my last post there. Sorry it wasnt. <<You have to accept the idea that not everyone has the same opinion of the park as you, there's no "right and wrong" here, and that that's okay.>> I never said it wasnt. Again, the 'we' was specific group of people as it was implied to mean, not to imply every Disney fan. Of course people love the park. I personnally know a few including my own mother . <<You can do another 10,000 word post and that will still be the case. I think we're done here.>> LOL, alright! It was fun though!

I heard it was like $800 million or something and the rest would go to a rumored phase 2. But now I'm starting to wonder if its now sitting at $1.5 billion (and counting lol), does that mean ALL of that is being used in this phase now? Or does it mean whatever money that was originally going to be allocated for phase one just got extended and the money that was suppose to be held over will still just be earmarked for any future changes/projects? Just curious how this works.

I still dont get the point? And I purposely left out Maliboomer since that is now on death's door in a few months .

Spend for Phase II needs to come from the increased revenue generated by the park itself - it needs to be self-sufficient after CarsLand otherwise it won't get another phase of development. It would probably be "Game Over" for DLR too as I doubt that the company will ever drop this type of coin again on the west coast. The overspend on RSR is entirely down to John Lasseter. Therefore if you love that attraction you have him to thank. He wanted Radiator Springs to be a plussed-up as possible irrespective of the cost.

With or without the tooning of the parks, I would think visiting a foreign country would be better than going to a theme park. "but I would argue a history of california show with some winks at Disney would have been even better." They had a history show in a small theater and it was always empty, I kind of doubt a Cali history lagoon show would've wowed psrk visitors.

I assumed as much and figured that this entire scheme was in lieu of building a third theme park. It would make no sense to build another park when DL was cannibalizing all the business. Leemac, what's the deal with hotels though? Why haven't we seen or heard anything regarding future hotel development and/or an expansion of DTD? Is the company waiting to lay plans after it sees how the DCA expansion pans out?
