If that's the case, their chips suck.

<<Based on this, I might rebook there, as that was our second choice.>>

Nine Dragons was better a few years ago. Portions have shrunk since then, and I just don't get filled up there anymore.

It's been about 3 years since we had our last disgusting meal there. Check out the frestaurant reviews on the other forms. You will see things haven't changed.

You can't go wrong with Nine Dragons. My only complaint with them is their menu is about half of what it use to be. Plus you use to get a side of noodles included with the meal.

I thought their Fish, and their chips were grat.

I'm with you Dave. I got spoiled to eating my chips with malted vinegar, and lots of salt. I even like fried eggs on my hamburger.

You saying you can't get a great steak in the UK? ... 'Cause I have!

Now ... maybe it's just the Floridian in me, but I have been having that soup since 1982 and while it is good, it's not THAT good. Folks often speak of it in orgasmic terms.

    And pretzel bread?

I honestly don't think much of it. I miss the old garlic loaf they used to serve for years before they went to the breadsticks.

<<As for Teppan Edo, teppanyaki only started to really appear in the UK outside of the big cities in the last 5 years (plus I love talking to the Tokyo DL cast members that seem to work there).>>

It's good. But Benihana is better ... and cheaper. And has a wider menu too.

<<Marrakesh is good, but we can get a lot of that stuff here in the UK too. But the entertainment is great.>>

I think it's OK. Been dumbed down. Price points too high ... same post, different day ;-)

<<I actually find Nine Dragons seriously underrated. I think americans are not so keen because it is not like their local take out. I don't know if things have changed, but last time I went it was the closest to the food I had in Hong Kong.>>

Nope. Nine Dragons is still VERY good. Had an excellent dinner there in May and really like how they updated the dining room, but still left much of its character intact (likely due to cost as it was supposed to get a show kitchen and that quietly disappeared ... much like Tutto Italia has been closing since 2007 for a total redo that never seems to happen).

<<But to be honest, I would be happy in any of the Epcot table service options. Heck, it is the main reason to go there.>>

It's one of them ... although I still feel you get better dining at the resorts.

<<I think your taste buds need an overhaul Spirit. Rose & Crown serves the same fish and chips as per their licensing agreement with Harry Ramsdens in both the dining room and the quick serve window. Has been that way since HR was brought into the park in '99.>>

    Sorry, Lee.

I wasn't clear. I have posted this (fish) tale before.

What happened was the kitchen at Rose and Crown ran out of fish (or ran behind in preparing it) ... so a member of my party wound up getting the smaller QS portion in a wrapper on the table, while others had the 1/3rd larger normal portion on a real plate with chips and peas.

The server tried passing off a fast food serving as the entree. This was brought to the attention of the manager who took the cost of the entree off and two desserts as well.

But she didn't seem surprised that this happened, which makes me believe it is SOP when things get busy because 'they're just dumb tourists, they won't notice'.

<<I couldn't believe the sheer tackiness of such a move as even a strip center Mexican joint bakes its own chips and makes its own salsa.>>

<<San Angel is still an outside vendor - it is entirely their choice if they want to dumb down their offerings. I totally agree - San Angel Inn isn't even close to being the product it was back in the nineties.>>

I disagree on the dumbing down being strictly their choice. Disney still has control over their vendors. If they didn't, the GM of San Angel could say decide to sell Pepsi instead of Coke ... or decide to offer lunch specials from $4.99 ... or price all dinner entrees at 19% lower than the averages at all the other WS locales to drive traffic.

Clearly, San Angel can't do any of those.

So, you better believe that Disney could step in and say 'you can't offer Walmart chips and salsa in one of our fine dining locales'.

<<I actually find Nine Dragons seriously underrated.>>

<<Nine Dragons is an unusual menu as it isn't often you find multiple regions on the same menu - typically it will all be Szechuan or Cantonese. >>

Very true. Although I do wish they hadn't have cut the menu again when they redid the restauant. Until then, you could still get a REAL FOR REAL MENU with pages of offerings ...

I say go for it. I’m rather fond of it, myself. Sure, it isn’t the best Mexican food you can get, but it’s definitely the best Mexican food you can eat while boats full of guests float past a mayan temple under a beautiful night sky. Much points for atmosphere.

    >>I love Le Cellier, but it being almost impossible to get ressies there drops it down on my list.<<

    Ditto.

    >>I've yet to eat at a sit down in Japan yet, btu I want to.<<

    Don’t. Because….

    >>Tepan Edo is good, but I have a hard time justifying the pricepoints when I can get much better food (larger portions too) at the Benihana at the DD Hilton and not have to book even a day in advance.<<

This. As a HUGE fan of Japanese hibachi steakhouses, I say go to Benihana instead. Better food, a bit cheaper….but not cheap. (A word of advice: Park at DTD and walk over. No need to pay the $7 parking fee they gouge you for at the Hilton.)

    >>And pretzel bread?<<
    Yes, please.

I also love the fish and chips at Harry Ramsdens, the overpriced pasta at Italy and all the free Mezzo Mix I can drink at Ice Station Cool. (Yes…I refuse to refer to it as Club Cool. That’s just silly.)

Now….I think I need to make some reservations at Mythos….;-)
