Never forget that the main criticism from guest after the opening of Epcot was that there was no Disney characters and they quickly added them to the park...

If you watch Saludos Amigos, which is where Jose came from, it mentions that he was designed after an already popular Brazilian character, so it seems fitting to me.

Goodbye, oh great and favorite El Rio Del Tiempo ~ I will miss you.

Given the short time frame, I'm betting that it will basically be the same ride with new film footage featuring the Three Caballeros, along with some possible AA's of Jose, Panchito, and Donald, especially in the 'small world' section and possibly at the end of the ride where the map of Mexico is. Just a guess on my part...

I'd love to see that kind of fun added to the Mexico ride. The ride is not cheesy-funny or cheesy-cool. It is cheesy-lame. I skipped it on my last two visits.

But the Mexico pavillion is so beautiful, I'd like to see a ride worthy of that atmosphere. Send in the birds!

Actually, I like that idea. It would give the UK pavillion some life since it is the most stale showcase of them all at EPCOT. Reason why they sell so much beer... so you don't realize what a waste of time that pavillion really is.

HOWEVER if a child can be truly enchanted by the UK pavillion because Mr. Toad is there, then great! If somebody learns something about Mexican heritage from one of the three cabillaros (Sorry about spelling!), then more power to 'em! If adding characters will help everyone to learn and visit the world showcase more, then I am all for it.

Well, yeah, but the ride is in the MEXICO pavillion, so Panchito should be the most featured.

I'm very curious how this update turns out. It's not a lengthy refurb, so maybe it will just be switching out the filmed portions. I do think they should add some AA's to the "Small World" section, but who knows.
