I predict that Everest will easily be Disney's single most finest achievement here in the US.

You're correct about the two ride systems being different but:

both are housed in extremely large scale, elaborately themed "mountains" which serve as focal points for their respective parks.

both are thrill rides with both outdoor and indoor elements.

both are very high budget and ambitious projects.

both have encounters with a single large monster or creature towards the end or climax of the ride.

Perhaps safer comparisons are Big Thunder Mnt. and the Matterhorn but those two are nowhere near the scale and scope of Fobidden Mnt..

Maybe we can conclude that Yeti is a good mixture of the Matterhorn's theme, the basic ride system and train-like ride vehicles of BTMRR and the ambition and scale of Journey to the Center.

That's fine. I may change my opinion once I ride Everest since I have been on JTTCOTE a million times already. BTW... Mt. Prometheus is a bigger, fire-exploding, fuller realized 360 degree volcano mountain over DAK's Everest Mt. which is only half a mountain and designed to be seen from inside the park only. Different story from the parking lot though... But my vote for bigger and better still goes to TDS's volcano. But I reserve the right to change my mind on this once I ride Everest, which is sure to be a fun fun fun ride on it's own merits.

Lately? Hands down (IMHO) TDL's Pooh Hunny Hunt.

    >>I predict that Everest will easily be Disney's single most finest achievement here in the US<<

As of late you mean...because I hardly doubt that Everest will take visitors away from the classic rides we know and love, such as POTS, IASW, HM, SP, JC, TOT, etc etc... Disney Achievements that have stood the test of time. (Notice M:S is missing from my list as I concider it a major dud with limited appeal)

By the way about M:S--agreed, it is very innovative and unique but it lacks both mass appeal and repeatability.
