DLPH is located right above the entrance to the park and if you stay on the Club floor you can take the private lift right down to the entrance, plus you get that all important VIP fast track pass, which allow you to go on all of the big/popular rides without queuing ! I think HKDL has clearly got some management issues as well, I had a lot of problems booking my reservation on the phone and is still unsure if my booking is confirmed, even though they have already charged me one night deposit without telling me first. Also I heard from somewhere that many of the rooms have wood worms or bugs, does anyone know if this true ??? I don't know, all the bad press has really put me off going to HKDL, can someone please advice, would it be a better idea to just go for a day trip, rather than spend 2nights/3 days there ? Any advice would be much appreciate ! Thanks!
Originally Posted By TDLFAN >>if you go to Disneyland, wouldn’t you prefer to have a view of the sleeping beauty castle and see the fire work from your bedroom balcony, rather than a view of the ocean?<< Well... I guess that would only be a matter of opinion and budgets. Soem people may just want to stay there and not willing to pay for the castle view. Besides...the ocean view from the HKDL hotels is quite lovely, with other islands in view. However, I see your point about the hotel not being at the door's entrance which is why it makes the DLP Hotel, TDS' Miracosta, and DCA's Grand CA such high expense facilities. If it's of any consolation, some rooms at the HKDL do have a view towards the park and the castle, Tarzan Treehouse and even the fireworks could be seen, but I think I'd prefer the ocean view. Same for TDR's Official hotels where a Tokyo Bay view is nicer than looking at the plain facades of the backside ot TDS and TDL buildings if you have "park" view. >>I had a lot of problems booking my reservation on the phone and is still unsure if my booking is confirmed, even though they have already charged me one night deposit without telling me first<< I had the same problem when I booked my room, being put on hold forever and *never* recieving an email from their reservation office until I requested one from them weeks later. I still don't have the PDF file of my reservation that some claim to have gotten at the time of their reservation. And even though I have a confirmation number, I wonder if they will have my reservation on file when the time comes for our vacation. Don't know about the bugs though... >>all the bad press has really put me off going to HKDL, can someone please advice, would it be a better idea to just go for a day trip, rather than spend 2nights/3 days there?<< Don't let the bad press deter you from going and seeing for yourself. DO it. I however think that 2 nights at the resort is fine if you want to spend an entire day at the park and still experience some of the hotel amenities. But there is not much to be done in the park if you happen to be there on a slow day, and in that case..one day in the park should be sufficient. Unless it's crowded or rainy, I would not advise to go back for a 2nd day at the park.

I was talking to my ex-girlfriend who lives in Australia and she said she has friends who were planning to go to the park for opening, but after reading the reviews for it and not many rides decided just to go back to DL in Anaheim instead. This is the stuff that can kill a park quick!!! I agree with TDLFAN though, even though I haven't been and been giving this park LOTS of crap (as well it should be given ), I wouldn't say it should deter you. You know what's there (or not there) and probably seen enough pictures to know that the place at least looks pretty nice at least to make ONE visit. I always tell people to go on your own and make your own judgements of course, but if you are someone with a family of four that only has one vacation a year and spending a lot of money for the trip, well, then you can't be so open with that thinking. It's different for us mostly single, middle-class uber Disney geeks that can travel anywhere to see these parks. But, for an average family with an average income, yeah, have to be a little more discriminating and I would probably tell that person, 'no', go to DL, TDR or WDW instead, but don't go there for at least a few more years. >>if you go to Disneyland, wouldn’t you prefer to have a view of the sleeping beauty castle and see the fire work from your bedroom balcony, rather than a view of the ocean?<< Well bobobo, I personnally don't know, but it must be some truth behind TDLFAN's statments about the sea view being better because those are the highest priced rooms. Usually, its the Disney view rooms that catch the most money, but not in this case and it must be a very valid reason for that.

I have already booked three ocean view rooms for my family and I'm sure the ocean view will be lovely. Not sure if anyone can confrim this, I was told by reservation that the park view rooms on the normal floor face the Green Park and not the disneyland park. If this is true they should make this clear on their site.

I made my reservation back in June, maybe they didn't get all their facts straight back then
Originally Posted By leemac I've no idea what the green park is. The Kingdom Club floor (the 6th) has a great balcony for watching the fireworks (we did this last week and they even pipe in the music!). Personally I'd say that the Hollywood has better park views but the ocean view at the HKDLH is much better.

Actually, it's kind of nice there isn't that much to do in that little park, because it will give people more time to explore the city and see a part of the world they might have otherwise not bother seeing before .

But there's no Mark Twain at HKDL, so perhaps its at another Disneylad (or just along a river, although I seem to remember something that led me to believe it was supposed to be in a DL park. But in another mural, the scene is clearly set at the ferry docks at HKDL. So, are the scenes that these murals depict supposed to be at HKDL or not? (It's almost certain that I'm putting way too much thought into this - perhaps I should just enjoy them for what they are)

The mural depicted in a pre-Columbus time style makes it even more cool. I heard Paradise Pier Hotel has one of DCA (or just Paradise Pier?). I want to check that one out too. I could've in July when I was there, but will again in a few months. I just heard about it a few weeks ago.
