For me, the Skyway visually "pulled together" a rather large, spread-out land in a way that the more intimate Fantasyland at DL did not need. Also, I am not as against the medieval tent facades in Florida as most are. Compared to pre-1983 DL, they are really only relegated to the Snow White, Peter Pan, Small World, and Philharmagic facades/entries. The rest of the buildings have had the DL village architecture since 1971 (with Pooh getting a facelift a few years back to fit in better with the expansion).

One thing I wish they would do (though I doubt):

Theme visible unthemed rooflines! (specifically Philharmagic, above the Cheshire Cafe, and if visible once all is done, the east side of the Small World show building). The first two examples have been this way since park opening, based on a look at old photos. In comparison, the rooflines above Snow White and Pooh have a castle armament theme.

In general, WDW does a poorer job of this than DL (see also, visible backstage from in front of the Crystal Palace, between Main Street and TL, and in Caribbean Plaza - rear of Frontierland bldgs).

    Matterhorn Bobsleds - E Ticket
Storybookland Canal Boats - D Ticket
Casey Jr. Circus Train - C Ticket
    Pinocchio's Daring Journey - C Ticket
    Snow White's Scary Adventures - C Ticket
    Peter Pan's Flight - C Ticket
    Mr. Toad's Wild Ride - C Ticket
Alice In Wonderland - C Ticket
Mad Tea Party - B Ticket
    Dumbo - B Ticket

    Castle Walk-Through - A Ticket

    WDW Fantasyland Circa 2013 - 10 Rides
    It's a Small World - E Ticket
Seven Dwarves Mine Train - D Ticket
    Little Mermaid - D Ticket
    Mickey's Philharmagic - D Ticket
    Peter Pan's Flight - C Ticket
Winnie The Pooh - C Ticket
The Great Goofini - C Ticket
    Dumbo - B Ticket

Now, you could also weigh the merits of the various meet n' greets; Fantasy Faire and Pixie Hollow in Disneyland versus Fairytale Hall, Beauty's place, Ariel's place, and circusland tent in WDW. But for me, just a little bit of meet n' greet with Local Junior College Coed dressed up like a Princess goes a very long way. You could also debate Philharmagic versus whatever live stage show they put back into the Fantasyland Theater at Disneyland, and take into account that Winnie The Pooh exists elsewhere in Disneyland, blah, blah, blah.

It's fascinating to me that this hugely hyped redo of Fantasyland only gains them a net of one extra ride from where they were 10 years ago, and NO extra rides from where they were 20 years ago. It's like they have just spent a ton of money to claw their way back to an overall ride capacity that can't be that much more than circa 1992.

But, it does look far prettier, or at least it should. WDW's Fantasyland was always such a treeless expanse of hot concrete and painted flats. This gets them up to a design aesthetic that can meet the 21st century audience head on and impress them.

Plus the DLR has TLM, great goofini which is the same as gadget im guessing? and pooh over in CC. A huge plus for me is also Toon Town, i know many people arent fans but i have always liked it. Yes WDW FL is nice looking, but most people are more interested in having more attractions instead of a lot of empty space.

All things considered though, I think WDW's Fantasyland will be at least as good as DL's, if not better by virtue of this expansion and it's magnificent centerpiece, Cinderella's Castle. Now, if they could just get the showmanship inside the attractions, shops, and restaurants up to DL's level and we'd be in business.

Could you? I personally wouldn't count seasonal stage shows that don't have regular operating schedules as attractions. To me they're more like frosting on the cake.

In all fairness when i think about FL i think about kids and FL attractions are what most young children are mostly able to do. Friends of mine with 3 young children asked me if they should go to WDW or DL and of course i said DL and told them try WDW when the kids are older. I love WDW, but i dont think its the better choice for kids. That being said dark rides are very important LOL.

Well... yeah... but I guess my question is Pinocchio's Daring Journey more important than Dumbo just because the former is a dark ride? Is the Little Mermaid more significant than Storybook Land? Does Snow White's Adventure outweigh an actual encounter with her in an elaborately detailed setting? I could be wrong, but I think what's being said in this discussion, specifically the summation in post number 24, won't necessarily correlate with the reality of the experiences or opinions of the average guest visiting the two parks once WDW's Fantasyland is complete.

If i have never experienced DL FL i would probably be thrilled with the changes at the MK.
