If they had made an entirely new show, they'd have exactly the same size crowds as they do now, as people go to see something they either have never seen or haven't seen in a long while. I don't think that MORE people are lining up for this reincarnation than they would for a whole new show.

Yes, the new show is pulling in more people than UNM, and most people are saying that the old show is much better than UNM. But it seems as if you're saying that if Disney had designed a brand new show for this location, it would not be as popular as the original show that Disney has brought back. And that's what I don't agree with. For either version of the "new" show, the crowds would be there for the first few weeks. But could current Disney pull off a show that's better and has more longevity than the original Tiki show? Who knows?

What I will say is that if Disney were to design a new show with the craft and care of how shows were designed "in the good old days" it would have been a better long term option for them and guests would have also responded. Resoundingly. (Especially with something new and fresh) If they were just going to cram Stitch in there and do something akin to the Tomorrowland Stage show, have Stitch compel the audience to tweet all together on their mobile devices, then it would have been just as lackluster as UNM. As Walt said, Quality will out... The old show is of higher quality than UNM, we are all seeing the results. >>For either version of the "new" show, the crowds would be there for the first few weeks.<< Agreed. >>But could current Disney pull off a show that's better and has more longevity than the original Tiki show?Who knows?<< I tend to doubt it, which is truly unfortunate. I would have liked to see them seriously try. It's not like they were going into it, replacing POTC. The bar was set pretty low already with UNM. If they would have succeeded, they would be far better off today.

Perhaps this was the quickest way to fix the damage.
