Prior to 2003, we just met inside DL, but our group got too big to do that without disturbing other DL guests. Of course, people can't commit without knowing date, time and cost, but the "powers that be" need to get an estimate before those other things can be determined. And by finding out when folks are planning to be around anyway, hopefully meets can be arranged when the most LPers are available.
