Where were you? Yes, it was nice meeting you, though I'm sorry if I was a little distracted when you came by. We'll have to meet up some time when I'm not working. Should I ask if the book you bought went over well, or hasn't it been given yet?

But... we just got back from a trip to New Orleans to meet one of them, and I have also met ones from Oregon, Texas and Arizona over the past few years. They're all WONDERFUL, but he's just tired of our vacation plans revolving around friends I have made online. I'm starting to think that's just par for the course anymore, though. You know? I mean, we have many "real life" friends, but internet friendships are becoming more and more commonplace, aren't they? In honor of Tall Disney Guy, I should tell him, "Get with it, Thelma! This is 2006!" (I'm guessing only TDG will get that one. ;-)

Originally Posted By FiveBearRugs What's also pretty cool about the Meet besides meeting the LPers is... well, actually, meeting the LPers is actually more magical than meeting that rodent in the park. Last year I saw the little kids' eyes widened and their shrieks of joy when they got to meet their favorite LP characters like 2oony, LuLu, the Inspector and Mrs. Glitter... Ahem. The other cool things about the meets is that you will eventually experience an attraction or two with them. You might be at Pirates minding your own business when all of a sudden, you're surrounded by LPers and end up riding in the same boat with them. If you're lucky, you'll actually get to ride the entire thing without it breaking down. Really, I think there are more LPers at the Park during those days than there are mascot characters. Then there are the special guests that have been dropping in at the Meet; In 2004, Wayne "Mickey Mouse" Allwine and his wife Russi "Martin Prince" Taylor appeared and used their voices to surprise everyone. I believe the park was out of Kleenex shortly after. Last year we had Dick "Pinocchio" Jones, Margaret "Tinker Bell" Kerry and Bill "Goofy" Farmer as special guests, as well as Disney Imagineer and puppeteer Terri Hardin. My prediction on Bill Farmer being there was right, which means that sooner or later, Tony "Donald Duck" Anselmo and Tress "Daisy Duck" McNeille are going to have to be in there. Of course if we can get Andreas Deja, Eartha Kitt, Pat Carroll, Jonathan Freeman, Tony Jay, James Woods, David Ogden Stiers (shouldn't he be considered a Legend by now?) and Jeremy Irons, I think it would be the bestest meet ever. Ahem. I've had the pleasure of attending one mini-meet in '04 and the Big Meet last year, and I had a blast. It made me quite giddy to see all these people that I only knew from posts and pictures, and then to actually interact with them and get to know them as their 'real' selves, whether it was Disney history, things about their family, or how to properly slide down a pole upside down with no hands, it's really fun. Since I didn't have the phone or Internet to hide behind, I think I was a bit shy at seeing the overwhelming mass of LPers all in one place. There was also that oh-so-fun trivia test that we had last year. The irony of is that a NON-LPER got most of the answers right. And... seeing all that classic DL memorabilia! So for those of you who have never been to one, come join our happy little cult this year in July!

This is the cheapest place I can find. $44 a night for 2 and $2 more per person per night. My tent will sleep 5 adults comfortably.
