As best as I can figure, it's the little pieces of paper. Ughhh - this is gonna be ROUGH! lol Scrapbooking baptism by fire! LOL

I've only done a couple paper piecings. I've seen some in the gallery at 2Peas and I've wished for that much talent.

Basically, you need a pattern, cutting tools and patience

You can use just about anything for a pattern, people recommend coloring books. You can use a scanner or copier to enlarge or reduce the thing to the size you want, and so not to destroy the original.

Once you have your pattern you can either cut out the pieces, trace them to cardstock and then cut them out. Or I've seen people recommend using carbon paper and a stylus to trace the pattern onto cardstock and then cutting the pieces out

Then glue the pieces together and add any definition lines with a pen.

It sounds really simple, but they can take a lot of time.

Oh, when I did the Sun Wheel paper piecing for the DCA swap, I made my pattern in a graphics program, since most of it was just overlapping geometric shapes. I had a layer for each piece and I could just use the graphics tools to make each layer. Then printed them out. we are looking and trying to do it all over the phone but its a nightmare.

I did some practising with my eyelet setter ywsterday, and think I have it sussed, so I'm planning on going for it today..

You have no idea the nightmare this move has been. At least we have a moving company moving us. but happy thoughts that this is the right thing to do.

I would like to do photo mats (they are half done..lol But I will do the shakers when I move, Ive tried several variations and they are just not turning out right so Im going to continue looking for what I want, then i can just put them together, after this move.
