We at TDS have 4 fountain barges as well that double as show stages, also have the mist screen mounted on them, have LED lighting, strobes, fog machines and even inflatable movie screens similar to the ones at Universal 360. Yeah.. it's long overdue Disney did an upgrade on ROE.. or a brand new show altogether.

I would estimate close to 28,000 guests, with average wait times at 45 mins.>> You deserved the rain! ;-) I so much miss that park (not quite as much as TDR's two gems, but I'd be there tomorrow ... if I wanted to cash in some of those miles I'm stockpiling!) How was the Cars show? I'm guessing small scale? And how would you rate the parade? I just missed it when I was last there, but did get to see a few floats backstage which was very kewl. Call me when you are back in the States and have some time!

The show has run its course and the reason you wish it to continue is because you love it and have been conditioned to expect shows to run forever (just what TDO wants). It was supposed to be for the Milennium and Dorsey has even talked about how the uplifting "we Go On' message has taken on something never intended after 9/11, multiple wars, terrorist strikes in UK and Spain, economic collapse etc. It's now very somber ... like 'hey, at least we all aren't dead' and that wasn't what it was about. <<And for the record, I would like to see RoE updated. It needs some new things. But as it stands, it is still in good repair, still functions, and there are BIGGER PROBLEMS IN EPCOT AND WDW to tackle. >> Well, I agree there, but the point is moot as nothing is being tackled beyond the Fantasyland construction wall project ... and building more hotel rooms and timeshares. My point is simply the show had its time and now is the time for a new show to wow us the way RoE did that very first time.

Overall though, I will go back to my previous post. I would love to see them update it, but DO NOT want them to simply for the fact that there are at least 50 things that need more urgent attention. And as you point out, good luck! So I would hate that they tinker with something that really isn't broken, take the chance that the result won't be an improvement, and steal resources from another entertainment need

A globe floating across the lagoon, as the base is hidden by the darkness and glare of the LEDs above it has a much grander effect than a large cone coming out of the water. It just looks clunky, and doesn't feel organic. But that's just an opinion, and certainly not a hard based fact, like some others would have you think about their opinions! >>>Also, ROE has 4 fountain barges.. from 1984<<< Actually... The bases might be the same, but the technology ON the barges has been updated quite a bit since then. First, in 1988 for the first IllumiNations. Then, in 1996 for IllumiNations 25. And again in 1999 for I2000/RoE. Just last year they were refurbished and had new LEDs and strobes installed, and the fountains re calibrated. Now THOSE are facts. And talking about stages and inflatable screens (which look terrible, I might add... very cheap and amateurish. ) doesn't exactly have any brevity when compared to RoE... We have no use for it. That's like saying Cinderella Castle is better than Spaceship Earth because it has a pretty (not) stage tacked to the front of it.

Because, in all honesty, and once again, both are opinion based. The show is aging, yes. But it's thematics, effects, and core message still work, and thus, there aren't too many reasons to have it bandied about as if it was a wreck of a show, and in dire need to retooling. If we want to talk about something like that, let's bring up Fantasmic. And no, not TDLFan's Tokyo version, which he seems to be enamored with! (I do think it looks like a nice show, for the record, but... still... Fantasmic. Foamheads. Typical music and story. Floating cone. But the new effects, like the dragon and pyro are ...kewl. ) And I disagree about the "somber" message of the song. It might have always had that quality, to be honest. But I think, in a theme park setting, especially in EPCOT, it speaks with a optimistic voice, a positive outlook, and about how far man has come despite challenge.
