We used to be able to budget about $150 a week for groceries (about 18 months ago), but now the average with cut backs is $300 a week. When I bought my car 4 years ago, it was $65-70 for a tank of Diesel. Now I am paying $120 a tank. And a standard meal at McDonald's - Big Mac, Fries and a Coke (albeit smaller than the US portions) runs about $6.50, so I guess that is cheaper, though we don't get refills.

But the new kid on the block of WDW Steakhouses, The Bull and Bear Steakhouse at The Waldorf Astoria is the one to beat. http://www.waldorfastoriaorlan...landbear And off property, Spencer's in the new Hilton at the OC Convention Center is also top notch. http://www.spencersforsteaksan...ndex.cfm
Originally Posted By davewasbaloo But it is not just WDW, in DLP we used to have a fantastic restaurant called Auberge De Cendrillon, which offered excellent french food and a good wine list as an a la carte. We could eat there a few years ago for about $30 a person and a moderate bottle of wine would run about $22. Then they made it a Princess meal and offered a fantastic set menu with three choices including a cocktail to start and wine, as well as free photos with Cinderella and a sword for the boys, tiara for the girls. We went for Jessica's 5th birthday last year and it came to $200 for dinner and a birthday cake, no toys, but still the photos were included. Still pricy, but it felt like it was good value. Now they have trimmed back on the menu, and the photos will cost you $48 if you want them, only two glasses of wine, and the meal is now $80 an adult and $38 per child under 11. Now it is not looking so attractive. Then again DLP charges $18 for a counter service meal. So prices going up across the board.

I keep waiting for a miracle that they will open a counter service restaurant that serves the cheese soup and pretzel bread. Those are the reasons why I love Le Cellier. I got the mushroom filet last time, and while it was fine, I've had better for less. We also, normally go at lunch and I get a salad or the prime rib sandwich. And the child's chocolate moose. Soup, pretzel bread, chocolate moose, and I'm a happy camper.

In many cases thay can't even afford to eat, which is what tips the scales and fans the flames of revolts.

There were teacher layoffs last year, and there will probably be more next time.
