Yup, check out the "Other Theme Parks" section. Handed out checks to TMs involved in the opening of Potter, including frontline workers.

I understand the Tuesday night event was quite extravagant, with an enormous food spread and booze flowing (I also understand that Disney had to throw out almost half the food that night because the media/blogger turnout was only about 1/3 of what they had planned).

You made the point about bloggers preaching to the choir and only getting the message to those already inside the tent.

My question is why Disney thought this was a good idea? Clearly there was a strategy involved. I'm just trying to understand why they thought they would get a return on their investment into schmoozing the blogger crowd, even if it turned out to be a mistake.

On one hand, it make sense that Disney would abandon "mainstream media" since the public is doing the same. A two minute fluff piece on the local news (or even Good Morning America) doesn't have the same impact as it used to.

But the soccer moms that Disney is trying to attract with its Memories campaign isn't visiting Disney fan sites, either.

It seems Disney would reach that untapped market better by doing promos in between Hannah Montana episodes on Disney Channel or getting Meg Crofton a spot on "Undercover Boss" (that would be worth watching!)

Are they, like many other companies, still feeling their way around in this "new media" world? Or are they fumbling inwhat amounts to a typical product launch?

I believe it is for all the full time employees in the entire resort. Not just those involved with Potter

Of course not. They all are star stuck themselves. I'm sure they get caught up in it.

The answers about Potter aren't telling at all. WE KNOW that they have nothing to go up against them... WE KNOW they are scared of the Mouse. This is just softly putting something out, quietly.

As for SWSA, I think that's telling of how much has to be done before they close anything existing. Also makes me wonder if they still have a ride to announce.

    It's a floating hotel.

    You walk around the hotel.

    You lie by the pool.

    You go to the beach.

    You watch a show.

    You eat.

That's not my idea of a vacation. I need a place to walk around that's actually revolving around something rather than relaxation. Something with a bit of meaning, thrill, and history in there.

Now, if the Floating Disney Synergy Hotel On Water was taking me, to, say, Europe, or Alaska ( Where is Pierce? We need to slip a Sarah reference in here! :( ) I'd think it's justified.

But if the FDSHOW is just taking me to a beach? Meh.

Well the Med cruise with DCL takes in Barcelona, the South of France, Pisa, Florence and Rome, belive me, it is worth while.

I would never do a trans atlantic cruise, but a European one, you betcha. And the Western Caribbean cruise is terrific too.

Okay, so I read this quote and perused the beginning of the list and think to myself, "not applicable. Apples and oranges." Right up until I read the part that they included WWHP?!! That is a big deal, in my opinion. Granted, theme parks should never be on a list with Machu Pichu and the Pyramids. I mean, seriously! But if they are, and WWHP is on there and not a single mention of a Disney Park (anywhere!) is on there, that seems like a direct diss. I think the rest of the world has finally caught on to what we so called doom and gloomers have known for a few years. Disney got cheap, lost their vision, and screwed themselves (and us). Now they are going to need to pony up big bucks to save themselves. But instead, they are conducting the goat rodeo that is the FLE announcement 2.0. Someone eventually is going to have to hang for this. Who will it be? (serious question)

EE, no offense, but that is an incredibly ignorant thing to say, especially for someone who claims to love history so much.

The Caribbean nations/islands have PLENTY of history to go around, and are more than just "beaches". Trust me, a cruise is one hell of a good time.

My only experience with a "relaxing" vacation is going to Destin. I've been twice. Cannot wait to go back. It's kind of nice to watch the waves and consume an adult beverage. But I guess that's wasted on someone who lives on South Beach.

Not my area of interest, but I wouldn't complain about taking a history oriented tour of the Caribbean. But paying through the nose for a Disney Cruise? Nope.

I don't do that to relax, that's just the thing. It bores me.

And yeah, South Beach has spoiled me.
