I was thinking recently about some witty English sayings that I've come across in times past. They are made by arranging the same or similar sounding words in ways to say very different things. Here's an example: "I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy." See how that works. It's a bit catchy, isn't it. Here's another one I saw: "I'd rather be in the boat with a drink on the rocks than in the drink with a boat on the rocks." Same three words. Very different meaning. Isn't English wonderful? Is there a specific name for these kinds of witticisms, or do I get to lay claim to naming them? Does anyone else have some to share?
