    Because it has nothing to do with economics. It's merely politics. In a blind and ill-educated society (partisanship is squarely to blame for both in this case), political power derives from the extreme concentration of wealth. The fewer power brokers available, the fewer entities politicians have to woo in order to obtain electioneering funds. Democracy can be an excellent remedy to this dilemma; however, as long as Americans continue to view partisan affiliations more akin to irrational religious dogma rather than practical policy options, then we continue to see politicians attempt to concentrate wealth further.

    That's right, because we know that when given an option, capitalist will always opt of more costly labor as opposed to less costly labor. History teaches us this. Doesn't it? *sarcasm off*

    Wow, you're an optimist! Whereas Granddad Labuda graduated high school, Grandma Labuda and her siblings all dropped out to work by 5th grade at the latest.
