And Deb... Why not have a want for something totally original in the parks? Why not a new story?

I'd be happy if they even reopened WoL as it was (never going to happen, though), just put SOMETHING of interest in there!!!

I'm just verrrrry picky about what goes into EPCOT. EPCOT can work SO WELL if it's done the right way. There's not a lot of room for error or "stretching" the theme.

Did I EVER say I didn't want those things?! I would LOVE something new, original and creative go in the WoL pavilion! I remember the days Horizons and the other gone but not forgotten EPCOT pavilions that featured what human creativity can accomplish. I would love a return to that. But it AIN'T happening! So I would rather EPCOT get a creative pavilion based on a movie than get nothing and have WoL turn into a moldering wreck until some exec decides to spend the $$ to have it torn down.

What's funny, is that this past trip I actually spent more time in Fantasyland than any other trip. Usually can't stand to be in there, too crowded, packed, there's not a lot there that interests me. Usually it's SWSA, IASW, done.

With MVMCP, it's a LOT emptier... Actually did all the dark rides, Philhar, and the new Pooh queue. It was a LOT more pleasant at night, and in the cold, than in the heat and crowds of June.

    Ahhh, gotcha. Sorry I misunderstood...

I quite agree, but I remain a BIT optimistic for EPCOT... the SSE refurb shows that they can still do something without synergy and characters, they just need a bit more money. ;-)

And I still think that WoL could make a great Computer Science Pavilion (which was actually planned at a point...) with TRON as ONE of the attractions, not the whole thing.

If we want a whole TRON attraction, that narrow story belongs in a land, or in a setting like Tomorrowland, or the Studios. EPCOT is about the exhibition of a theme, not the progression of a story.

    IMHO. :)

And people wonder why I can get some negative about Eiger's empire. For me it was the innovation and leadership that made me a Disney obsessive. Never the toons.

If wishes were fishes... There's a Nemo joke somewhere in there.

Same here. Being a History Oriented person... I was always enthralled with how well they portrayed those stories and time periods.

I don't mind synergy if its done right (Toons in Fantasyland and Toon Town, Davy Crockett in Frontierland, Swiss Family Robinson in Adventureland, etc.) TRON does fit in Tomorrowland, and if done properly, could fit in Future World. And as much as I would like to see a TRON themed attraction go into the WoL pavilion (as I feel the synergy could work there if part of a computer pavilion) or somewhere into Tomorrowland, I would most definitely welcome something new and creative even more that has no synergy connections at all. Other concepts like a weather pavilion or a chemistry pavilion would definitely be nice, welcome additions.

As much as I like Test Track (I know, not everyone does, but it was at least innovative for its time as well as fun), I preferred the World of Motion more. Same with Horizons, which was my all-time favorite EPCOT Center attraction that I miss dearly. I'd take that (and any other original EC attraction) over Mission Space any day! Same for the original Journey into Imagination over what's there now. These were wonderful, awe-inspiring attractions with just the right amount of humor thrown in, and no synergy to be found in any of them.

As I said, I'm not against synergy if done right. I just hate to see when its forced into an attraction or area where it doesn't fit right such as Iago and Zazu in the Tiki Room, Aladdin's Carpets in Adventureland, Stitch, Monsters Inc., and Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland, Nemo in the Living Seas, etc. At least TRON could fit in Tomorrowland or Future World.

It means I have been looking for other things to put my energy and interest in, but I long for the parks that educated and inspired as well as entertained.

Same with the MK in 1971... It was a land for storytelling, both new, and DIsney's stories. Now it's all Disney.

Anyway Dave baloo, you are the first person I heard use the word "edutainment". I loved it the first time I heard it. It's what I grew to expect from WDW. My stomach doesn't do thrill rides, but I'm not against having them for those who do crave them. What I'm against is taking away Motion and Horizons that I really enjoyed for TT and MS that I'll never do. I took that personally. IMHO there was space to keep the old and add the new.
