Lyrics and singalong all. Other than Big Blue World in Living Seas, what attraction music can you sing along with now in EPCOT?<<<

Well, songs definitely don't seem as important in the EPCOT attractions as they once did, that's for sure. I really miss the EPCOT Center of the 1980s!

Here's a list of songs from attractions during that time:

Spaceship Earth - "Tomorrow's Child" - song removed and score replaced...twice!

Universe of Energy -(Had two songs) "Energy: You Make the World Go Round" and "Universe of Energy". Both removed during Ellen makeover.

Horizons - "New Horizons" - Both the attraction and song went to 'Yesterland'. Horizons also featured a cameo version of "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" during the 'futures past' sequence.

World of Motion - "It's Fun to Be Free" - Both sent to 'Yesterland' as well.

The Land - "Listen to the Land" boat ride plus all the delightful songs of Kitchen Kabaret. Listen to the Land was dropped when Kraft dropped sponsorship, but the ride remained as Living With the Land. Kitchen Kabaret was redone into Food Rocks, which had food parodies of rock songs. This attraction was a pale imitator of the original and was not nearly as missed when it closed for Soarin'.

Journey Into Imagination - "One Little Spark" - Although this song is still used to a lesser extent in the current Journey Into Imagination With Figment, it certainly doesn't have the same grandeur as the original, and neither does the newer attraction.

Magic Journeys - Had a wonderful Sherman Brothers song of the same name. Beautiful and haunting at the same time.
"Making Memories" was the song for the pre-show as discussed in this thread. Both songs disappeared when they replaced Magic Journeys with Captain Eo.

Captain Eo - Had two Michael Jackson songs, "Another Part of Me" and "We Are Here to Change the World". Neither appeared on any Disney CD's to my knowledge, though "Another Part of Me" I believe was released on one of Jacko's albums. I believe that the preshow for this used "True Colors", the old Cyndi Lauper song that Kodak adopted as it's 'theme song' in the 90s. Replaced with Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

Astuter Computer Revue (Communicore) - "The Computer Song" This lively song actually kind of made computers sound fun. Disappeared when the show was retooled into Backstage Magic.

El Rio Del Tiempo(Mexico) - "Come With Me, Amigos" Catchy tune that stayed with you after the attraction was over. Replaced with "The Three Caballeros" during the ride's retheme to "Gran Fiesta Tour with the Three Caballeros".

O' Canada - "Canada, You're a Lifetime Journey" is still heard in the new film, but is sung by a female Canadian pop star now.

The American Adventure - "Golden Dream", the only song to still be heard in it's unaltered glory from when EPCOT Center opened. Wonderful!

Unfortunately, I don't think the statement is accurate. While most of the song is the same, I believe they did add a new portion a couple of years ago - bringing it up to date with people who came to fame after the original. The song was lengthened a couple of minutes.

For all the amazing and memorable scores you associate with 'Classic' EPCOT, ask what has been added musically to replace all the songs that have been removed.

    Tough one, huh?

The only memorable music would be Soarin. No lyrics, either. Stolen from DCA as well.

I recall hearing some godawful song that ostenibly hails from Mission Space on one of the recent park CDs and thinking 'this is so forgettable' ... which is likely why I never recalled hearing it once when exiting MS.

As long as the ride is good, I could care less about the song. People don't go for the song, they go for the ride. The lack of songs has been a sign of the times. For two reasons:

    1. The extreme lack of amazing songwriters outside of Alan Menken, who is only now getting back to Disney to work on Rapunzel.

    2. The change to thrill rides, which is not an entirely a bad thing.

And its not like I hate Disney Music. I've got over 250 Disney related songs on my iPod. I'm just saying that the lack of songs is not the end of the world.

So when you are at home, years later, you hear a few bars and it triggers the good memories and feelings. I remember another old-timer mentioning that Walt wanted a pictorial guide on every coffee table, that's why they sold them so cheap. To be a conversation pieces, reminding the owner how great it was and to want to come back; to tell their friends how great it was so they would make a trip.

But I guess they would prefer 4/3 packages to motivate people to return.

I agree. It's kind of sad when we start to lose sight of what use to be the overall Disney experience.

Definetly! Music is meant to move people, and bring out a certain emotional response.

I guess Disney no longer feels it adds to an attraction.
