Apparently Disney Management recognizes the French versions and that's why Aurora and Cinderella are positioned in France whenever they're seen in World Showcase at Epcot.

There is a good reason as to why the second half of the story isn't mentioned in any of the more recent re-tellings of the tale. The Queen/Morther turned out to be an ogress who dared to threaten the lives of her own son's children while he was away on some sort of expedition. Thankfully Aurora was cunning enough to save herself and her children before they came to a bad end. But the Queen/Mother was thrown into a pit of snakes as a punishment, if memory serves...

ORWEN: But we've decided to just conjur the movie up inside our crystal ball, anyway, and relate to it like it was something different. Maybe that'll make it easier. ORDDU: Aside from that, this IS Maleficent's version of the story so you already KNOW she's going to be giving a perverted version of the tale. ORWEN: That's probably why she didn't include the 3 original good fairies in it. She doesn't want anybody remembering who her original arch enemies were!!!
