I just dont see why they take it down to put a better ride in. It just seems so boring sitting there.

It's really pretty small to be considered an incredible waste of space. That honor should only be reserved for attractions like Autopia, which takes up a ton of room with limited capacity and limited enjoyment. There's really not too much else that could fit into the footprint of the Maliboomer (other than a simple spinner), which makes it use the space relatively well, even if it's a poor excuse for a Disney attraction.

"Yes, the Maliboomer is very tall, but how often are you looking up towards the sky?"

I have no problems with it when I'm in Paradise Pier, or even across the Bay. It's when I'm in Frontierland, in line for Big Thunder and I look toward the Golden Horseshoe and see the Maliboomer poking up above the horizion. While the ferris wheel and Screamin' may not be ideal, they can't be seen from as far away as the Maliboomer, and I don't believe either of them can be seen from anywhere in DL (though TOT can also be seen from the north side of the Sub Lagoon, as it pokes up from behind Space Mountain).

I'm kind of wondering why you think Screamin' "looks a mess" and Maliboomer is passable.

As others have said, the space can eventually be an appropriately themed entrance to a new dark ride, with the building behind Screamin' just like Midway Mania.

They'll even let you have it for free, but you have to pick it up yourself, and they're using it as a tax write off as a charitable donation.

Good thing the miceage.com article about the removal of the Mailboomer wasn't posted today, or I'd right now be suspecting the good news was no more than an April Fool's joke.

That tacky, clunky, junky tower, not much less of an eyesore than the big power poles straddling Katella Ave, was the epitome of why DCA was a park created by a bunch of creative dim-bulbs.

I'm even more suprised about this bit of news because I thought the plan up until now had been to retain a portion of the Mailboomer and convert it into a parachute-type ride. Or something reminiscent of what used to be at Knott's. And, therefore, why bother?

Still, along with the good news, DCA continues to have enough layers of junk that even with the demise of the Mailboomer, other heaps like the nearby Jumpin' Jellyfish towers, or the lovely concrete pools around King Triton's carousel, or the charming queue area of California Screamin', etc, will remain.

    More bulldozers, please!
