The other reason there's no outcry is because some jokes and jabs don't diminish the beauty, quality or memories of the original source material. In the movie 9 to 5, Lily Tomlin has a dream sequence about killing her boss, and she appears in a very Snow White-inspired segment, complete with cartoon critters. Yet, Snow White endures as the magnificent classic it is, and 9 to 5 is funny, and no one loses an eye or anything.

Walt was still alive when they did that one too. Disney is popular culture. It's fair game for satire, and always has been.

He died in the last one too, didn't he?

Tex Avery hoped that Screwy would be the next Bugs Bunny, bvut for whatever reason, he never caught on. (I think that Avery's manic, over-the-top pace being ahead of its time by a few decades had much to do with it. And he was a bit Woddy Woodpecker-like, too.) Even in the few shorts produced, Screwy had a fairly drastic makeover. He was very akin to Bugs at first, then became much more stylized by the last. And I can't remember if he died in the last one, but it sure sounds like an Avery way to make a swan song! >>"Wisten to the wippling whythm of the woodwinds as it goes wound and wound . . . and it comes out here."<< LOL!!!

Dare I even mention cheap shot central, The Simpsons? "You must avenge my death, Kimba . . . I mean Simba."

And the Simpsons always makes fun of Disney. Itchy and Scratchyland, anyone? "Remember, we're parked in the Scratchy Lot"

Now "A Corny Concerto" is a smart sendup of "Fantasia" down in Bob Clampett's own sence of humor. In contrast something like the mermaid gag in Shrek is nothing but hurtful. It makes people laugh AT Disney at us Disney fans in exactly the same way bullies and popular kids laugh at you when they beat you up. That's what I find VERY represensible about everything the "Shrek" franchise stands for.

Trust me, this and Shrek are nothing in the way of insulting someone's fandom. Try being an anime fan. "Us Disney Fans" get no where NEAR as much insulting as the anime fans.
