We are all having a blast, enjoying the scenery, wild life (though no sight of Nessie or the Morray Firth dolphins yet), trying different local delicacies and exploring over 3000 years of history. It is wonderful. In the evenings,we build a fire and play chess or cards or read stories to the children. Then Sarah and I cuddle up in front of the fire and read scottish folk tales, myths, and legends or history books with a wee dram of whiskey. Lovely. Today we are off to Eilan Donan castle (if you've seen the movie Highlander with Chris Lambert and Sean Connery, it is the castle the Clan McLeod ride out of to go into battle). Once we got home, things started all over again (business, letters from doctors about Mikey, a fine for parking - admin error, but it will take time to resolve etc.) Thankfully Sarah is much better, though I have been having issues with chest pains today (lung related). Back to work tomorrow. I sadly missed a colleague's funeral on Friday (31 year old HIV positive colleague, died of a heart attack while we were away). Yesterday we went to celebrate my brother's 14th birthday. My mom did not want us talking about our trip (jealousy sadly), and the oldest of my kid brothers was a tool in a bad mood, and went out, despite the fact we have not seen him in over a month. Needless to say, I wanted to go back on vacation. One foot in front of the other. I hope things get better for you too StitchMom.

As for the issue of relatives ( and sometimes friends as well) not being happy for you when something good does happen, it is all too sad. We go through this as well. We're hoping that both economy and health will allow us our 4th trip to WDW this Fall. My hubby and I have been married 37 yrs this coming Nov and the very first vacation we have ever taken happened in 2006! I also feel I must keep quiet and not say much around certain people, as they get very jealous.Everything we do, we do as a family and is family oriented, and it is sad that others can't be happy for us when we are able to do something that is fun. I am always so happy when a friend or co-worker gets the opportunity to go somewhere or have something good happen to them..for so many years, my "vacations" were also through others! Take care, as you say, "one foot in front of the other". Just one fire to put out at a time. And, of course, lean on your LP friends here to listen and send good thoughts your way. Sometimes, those good thoughts that are sent from others can really "add up" and somehow make a positive difference. My friend is going on yet another cruise and I am happy for her, although she is sensitive and doesn't talk for hours.

As for trips, it is a huge interest of mine to hear and see where people I care about are going and the things they have done (and if I am lucky enough to see grand kids, I would love to know what they were up to). Thank you so much for all your kind words. Today has been hard getting back in the saddle, and the legal letters etc. frustrating. Also, a specialist who wrote a letter to our Dr and the school made a lot of mistakes in their letter and now is on maternity leave, so add it to the list. But yep, focusing on the positive. Can't wait to start my 2.5 hour commute in 5 hours time! Tonight, letter and taxes, and tomorrow (besides work) a trip with the Ed Psych. Stitchmom - my digits are crossed that your trip works out for you. I cannot wait to read your trip report.
