"Pitiful interview"? What channel were YOU watching? It was a great interview. Funny, genuine, enjoyable. Made you really get to know their little family. Yet you see it through the lens of bitterness. Pitiful (and partisan). What can I say, pal? The vast majority of Americans saw that interview (and others) quite differently than you did, and elected the guy President. So, suck it.

The "boo-hoo" part about clothes starts around marker 7.40, so judge for yourselves. It began with the INTERVIEWER asking "what does Mommy and Daddy think of their new fashion status?".

But when the tables are turned you cannot even see it. Sad. So, "suck it".

And I find it kind of funny that the dress she talks about wearing on the View-the under $200 one, cost soooo much less than the shoes she was just wearing last week. Dem spin.

That's even if such an aid did mess up, which is far from clear; it's just as likely no one even noticed what Obama had on her feet. Whatever media outlet "broke" this non-story, like whatever outlet "broke" the McCain footwear non-story at least had an excuse for the silliness; it's their business, and they have 24 hours to fill with SOMEthing. People pretending this means anything of any import whatsoever have no such excuse, however. It's nakedly partisan, and they're not being anywhere near as subtle as they think. The fact that the liberals here did not start an equivalent thread on McCain's footwear choices tells you about all you need to know.

I've certainly never tried to hide my contempt and utter loathing for the disaster that is the current Republican party. But how about being partisan about something that makes sense. Something that'll get people riled up. Something that, oh, I don't know, freakin' matters! Be partisan about the bailout. About Iraq. About the upcoming judicial nomination. But Michelle Obama's handler missing her pair of shoes? Shoegate? For reals?

It really does take away from any legitimate issues some of the more middle to right leaning posters like myself, wahoo, vbdad and others might have. In fact has Doug even particpated in this thread? If he hasn't that should tell you something about the stupidity of this.

However, I disagree that you, DAR, are actually "middle to right leaning". Considering everything you have posted over the years, and discounting your one pet issue of torture which WOULD place you squarely in the right wing camp but I consider it an aberration born out of frustration rather than a true part of your tapestry if that makes any sense...you seem to me to be a very left leaning sort of guy. What can I say? I call em like I see em. VBDad and Wahoo seem a bit more dogmatic than you but still, they don't qualify as right wing either these days...in fact, I could find 10 posts by either of them and send em off to Rush Limbaugh and have them immediately expelled from the order, quick as lightening. At some point, the only two "charter" members of that party will be Limbaugh and Sarah Palin...I'm sure of it...along with a posse of Mormons and Survivalists following them up to Alaska for some sort of final stand against...well...nobody (since nobody will care).
