That ignores the fact that McCain's convention bounce is over, Palin has become notably less popular (especially with independents), and it is Obama who has surged in the polls the past 10 days or so. He doesn't need a "hail Mary" now - it's McCain who needs another one.

Which may be exactly what this "I'm suspending my campaign" thing was.

Quite a cash saving option..suspending the ads and media buy-ins and all the rest, but what does THAT have to do with his need to return to Washington for a few days?

Give it a minute to sink in...

    Cause the answer is "nothing".

A cheap stunt, and nothing more, designed to save some desperately needed money and try and force Obama to agree to the same...but at NO TIME was there any reason to suspend the campaign, EVEN IF the Senator were needed in Washington for a few days.

Having a cloistered First Lady (er..I mean Vice President) is also sort of a disadvantage...what's she going to do these days with the campaign suspended?

HAS SHE BEEN CALLED INTO WASHINGTON AS WELL, IN ORDER TO OFFER HER EXPERT OPINION ON THE MATTER?

    Well, has she?

This whole stunt stinks to high heaven. And if I don't see some media write ups on this very topic I swear I will find a way to put my ugly mug on a CNN interview post haste.

    No joke.

This is just more of the same low, pathetic politics that America is dead sick of.

And I'm not afraid to say so (even if this "just might be", "maybe", "perhaps" "but we don't know yet"...a "crisis").

The market doesn't think so, by the way. Relatively speaking, we are far from a crash...don't let Paulson and Bernanke fool you.
