    Speaking of candy corn...

CK bought a 1 lb bag of the stuff at Target the other night, left it in the shopping bag on the floor and promptly forgot about it.

Yesterday we come home to... nearly empty, sticky, candy corn bag on the floor of the living room and naughty little blue dog with a big fat tummy.

We figger, no biggie -- this is Sheila "5 sticks o' butter" Bo Dogala. A week or so after we adopted her, my sister sent me home with a butter dish and five sticks of butter. She failed to mention the butter part, so I left it in a pile of other boxes to put away and went happily off to work.

We came home to a chewed up box, 5 butter wrappers and a very guilty little dog. Point is, she survived that, so a pound of candy corn didn't seem like that big of deal.

Anywho, we go out and play. Everything seems fine.

CK comes inside and settles down on the couch.

Sheila hops up, front paws on his lap and gives him a weird look.

I'm in the kitchen and hear, "Are you ok, She---HOMYGAWD!!!! Quick!!! AMBER!!!!! OHMYGAWD!!! GET A TOWEL!!!!"

I run into the living room and CK is absolutely DRENCHED with sticky reddish orange goo. And it's flowing all over the couch cushions.

    So we mopped that up.

CK was busying himself with the carpet steamer when Sheila hurled again in the kitchen.

Cleaned that up with a towel while CK took her outside and proceeded to "go" in candy corn colors on the deck. She couldn't help it. :( She looked so guilty.

So then she comes inside again. We're still cleaning up the first too messes. She's milling around, goes in the bedroom and I hear her herk again! All over the carpet... another red sticky mess.

In the middle of this, chipndale16 and Joe showed up. They took doggies outside while we continued cleaning.

Then we joined them and sat outside for the next 3 hours. It was NOT warm in Seattle last night.

Anyway, 8 pukes and some diarrhea later, we decided it was safe to go inside. At this point, Sheila is barely able to stand up cuz she's so sick and her legs are shaking and I'm getting really worried cuz she sorta collapses on the carpet... so we call the emergency vet line... and the on-call doc says she really should have an I.V. and be monitored but he just had knee surgery and can't come in to the office, so make her drink water and if she starts puking blood or having a seizure, take her to this emergency 24 hr vet in town.

We monitored her last night and she seemed to be doing better. I think she had an accident this morning because she was so full of water and couldn't get outside in time, but other than that she seems ok now.

So yeah. Candy corn isn't real high on my list of Halloween "must haves" right now.

Well, some of those "top people" need to get out of the K2M Labs more because *I* have done some research today.

There is, of course, Candy Corn.
    Then there is Indian Corn.
    Then there are Mellowcreme Pumpkins.

And by the way, that link you keep using, the candy corn characters?
    I MADE THOSE.
