I explained to the guest that there was no height requirement for the ride so it would be her own decision whether or not she wanted to send her small daughter down. I also explained that there was no double riding so they would have to ride separately, but she was more than welcome to come down first and wait at the bottom to catch her.

At this point the guest seemed a bit frustrated and explained she really didn't want to go down the slide because she just had her hair done and needed to keep it dry. The guest then asked me if she could tie her daughter (mind you this girl was probably 3 years old and most likely could not swim) to the raft.

I calmly explained to her that it would be a safety hazard to tie her daughter to a raft with a shoe string and I suggested maybe trying one of the slides in the kiddie area of the park. The guest got extremely upset and asked for me to call my manager so I did so.

Upon my manager's arrival I explained to her what was going on and she asked me if I was serious. I told my manager that I was very serious and pointed her to the guest. My manager then talked to the guest, turned back around and walked toward me. She proceeds to do her best to hold in a laugh and calls another manager out to continue because she could not contain herself any longer.

Well there really wasn't anywhere that they could get to in time, and I told her I was very sorry, and if she left her autograph book with me I would do what I could to get Mickey's autograph from backstage. Hoping I hadn't crossed a line and made promises I couldn't keep I tracked down my manager and explained the situtation. He took the autograph book and explained that he would see what he could do. After the show we told the family that their book was being signed and could they wait just a little while longer? Well we stalled them until the house was completely empty, just this one little family and all the castmembers cleaning up. I took them down to the path at the bottom of the Beast section that comes from behind the mountain, and told them we were waiting for their book to be brought out. And it was a moment later - by Mickey and Minnie!! When they came skipping around the corner holding hands it was all I could do not to start crying right then. They spend a good ten minutes with that family. They were so excited and grateful.

Roger Ebert -- great guy. We had a lot of fun in the parks, and while taping 'Siskel & Ebert' at Disney-MGM Studios. Met Gene Siskel too, who was also a very nice person. No, they didn't hate each other!

Michael Ovitz's in-laws. A cute, sweet, elderly couple. One of my all-time favorite times as a tour guide. Just kind wonderful people -- very easy to host.

Herb was so impressed with me, that he sent my dad a card telling him so. Plus, the two of them sent Michael Eisner a thank you card, commending me, which made its way to Dick Nunis and then into my personnel file.

One evening, I was working City Hall. A call came in from the Lead at 'Hoop-dee-Doo Revue' that the actor playing Jim Handy had called in sick -- they needed a sub to play Jim Handy for tonight's performances.

My supervisor, Kim, who was an awesome guy, gave me permission to leave my post.

10 minutes later, a van from Fort Wilderness pulls up behind City Hall, picks me up and takes me to the 'Hoop-dee-doo Revue' venue Pioneer Hall.

    Fun times.

A couple of days later Bill came in again and said "I want to see Small World hit capacity during the peak times" No problem Bill. "I have been doing research and we have never hit our theoretical capacity at Small World, I want to get close" Well Bill, what is the best hour we did. He then gave me the number (I think it was around 1250). I said...We will beat that number!! He said...Your sure? Me: Absolutly. Bill: Wanna bet? Me: Ummmmm, what? Bill: Your job. Me:UM. Bill: If you hit 1250 I will let you keep your job. Me: Nice incentive...I want to hand pick my crew.

Easter week came and I was at Small World all day every day. On 3 different days we beat the 1250 number. One day we hit theoretical capacity of 1300 (I think that is the number) and one day we hit almost 1400.

After Easter Bill came into my office and said...Well I guess you can work here for awhile longer. "Thanks, Bill" He then said...You did a great job. That was a nice compliment. A week later I got a later of commendation from Bill, a letter of thanks from Michael Eisner and a complimentary meal at a hotel resaurant. Very nice!!! One morning Bill came in with 2 dz donuts for the Small World crew. And my thanks to a great crew of CM's was a pizza party on me.

Bill left Disney not too long after and went to work for Blockbuster who was trying to start up an Interactive Video Store (something like Disney Quest I guess). He could be a tough boss, his father was the governor of FL when Walt made his announcement.

I had Roger Ebert for a film appreciation class in 1972 - at the University of Illinois - Chicago -- he was a riot !

Also when I worked in Downtown Chicago ( across the street fromt he Chicago Sun-Times building was our Regional Offices) - we used to eat at this Thai restaurant ( before Thai was chic ) - and Roger and Gene used to eat there like 3 times a week -- and they really did have some 'spirited' discussions about topics -- I know they liked each other - but boy could they argue also. We got to know them pretty well -- both nice guys....

    2) One day a couple of other CM's and I thought it would be fun to eat lunch on the patio of the last scene of Carousel of Progress. Everytime a car with guests would come around we would eat real slow and act like robots.

    3) After 20k closed I used to watch the fireworks from the top of the Peter Pan building. There you could lay down with your hands behind you head and look up.

    4) One day a photo shoot was going on in Mickey's dressing room in Mickey's Birthdayland in the morning. The understanding was they would be done by 10am when it started to get busy. 9:30 they were still shooting, 9:45 and they were still shooting. So I walked in and said to the photographer "You got 10 mins then we need to open this room for guests". He said OK. 9:50, 9:55. 10am. I walk in and said "Ok you need to finish up, I have a line outside". The photographer just ignored me and kept shooting. 10:05...10:10. "You need to get out of here NOW" 10:12, 10:14...by 10:15 our queue was full and not moving very fast so I walked in and stepped in front of the camera and said...get out now. The photographer walked around me and started shooting. Well I had enough so I turned and said "Get the %$%& out of my dressing room or I am calling security" Well, that was enough to get him to stop. We opened at 10:30am. As I walked away the other supervisor who was there came up to me and said "I cant believe you said the F word in front of Mickey, I mean that Mickey Mouse in there and you cursed in front of Mickey. Did you see Mickey cover his ears when tou said that? You CURSED in front of Mickey Mouse!" I just turned and looked at her. She was seriously upset that I cursed in front of Mickey. I said "You do know that there is a person in there dont you?" She stopped cold, looked at me and then got hysterical laughter. "Sometimes I forget" We laughed about that for a long time. Some 18 years later when I run into that supervisor out at Disney she says...THis is they guy I told you about he CURSED in front of Mickey.

The name tag then said "Goofy can you take a picture with Amy Carter?" Well when the presidents daughter wants a picture with you, you stop and take one.
