This wasn't it.

Opinions are really ideas. And there are good ideas and bad ideas. What makes a good idea is a level of understanding, perspective, and experience. Everybody is entitled to an opinion and everybody should share their opinion. I would argue that not all opinions are equal. Especially in discussing what at the end of the day is art and/or business.

It's not.

But I don't think I have ever targeted you specifically and said "you aren't worthy". The issue with these crazy tirades from the 'defenders' is they take a blanket statement or generic observation and they personalize it as an attack. Going from 0 to 100mph. At least in discussions with me, I don't see what is so hard about rattling off a few points to help substantiate one's opinion. I can't speak for any other 'doom and gloomer' on here, but I admit I'm wrong, apologize for incorrect assumptions, change my mind, all the time. It's not hard. I would really like to get back to posting about issues and subjects rather than posting about posting. It's quite juvenile, but in the interest of keeping many members on here, active and happy I am spending time out of my day to try to reason. It's quite disheartening.

Just because we aren't involved in the volley doesn't mean we aren't interested in or somehow dislike the discussion. So I'm throwing it in here that this discussion is highly relevant, and may well determine how much I care to visit the site in the coming weeks and months. I would venture to guess that there are many other lurkers following this as well. Actually, I do have one point. I don't think it is at all productive how many folks will make a broad generalization about posting styles or opinions or what have you. Then someone else who thinks that generalization might apply to them jumps in to defend that style or point of view. Immediately the original generalizer says, oh, I didn't mean you, just other folks. Well, who? It's like everyone wants to make accusations, but never take any real responsibility for them. If you have a problem with a post, say so, and why. Don't blow it up to generalizing about a group of posters. That is often unfair and uses far too broad a paintbrush. And just because you call out a bad/mean/poorly communicated post doesn't have to mean you are attacking the poster. We all have bad days, or days when our buttons get pushed and we react badly. So give folks a nudge, rather than going away and stewing, and then hurling a planned attack, where then a number of other similar posters pile on, and we have a good old school yard ruckus. Quite silly, really. And yeah, I mean YOU! lol
