The underwater movement is hard to see in the video. I certainly hope it's better in person, because it looks like a blurry mess. It's not a negative to me, but not really something to get excited about either.

If the change was at Disneyland POTC i bet passholders would come to see it.

I guess anything they add to the WDW version of Pirates is greatly appreciated since we got half a ride in the first place.

Maybe I should rephrase that.... or worse the Johnny Depp Pirates stuff is still sitting in Pirates.

I was having this conversation with someone on another site, who swore up and down that Jack Sparrow will be a character for the ages and that he'll never be removed from the ride.

Personally, I don't see his popularity lasting all that much longer, and in a decade, people will be asking "Why is this Jack Sparrow character all over the place?"

The sole design brief was to ensure that the JS AAs didn't interfere with the existing storyline and that they could be removed easily. All 3 accomplished that.

I agree with the "can be removed easily" part.

I don't think the mermaids take away from the storyline. I do think the continued use of 3 Jack Sparrow AAs does however take away from the overall impact of the ride. It is redundant and totally unnecessary. It is a blantantly, overt attempt to cash in on the movies. I would have thought that one Jack Sparrow AA is enough. If you want additional AAs, then simply add other memorable characters from the PoC movies. Personally, I think the MK's PoC is stuck with Jack Sparrow AAs for forever and a day.

I don't know about the figures themselves, but it seems to me that (at DL at least, maybe not as much in WDW) they revised the script of the entire attraction so that every single pirate says "Captain Jack Sparrow" on an endless loop. Almost all of the dialogue has been changed to reference him throughout the ride("Whar be Captain Jack Sparrow"..."Don't tell him Carlos, don't be cheekin!"). While I assume they have the original audio and AA programing on file somwhere, I find the ride's rewrite much more intrusive than the figures themselves.

The nice thing about the mermaids is that they seem to be a one-off effect, like the Davy Jones/Blackbeard waterfall. It shows up in a certain scene, but when you're not in that area of the ride, you're not constantly reminded of it.

AS far as not bringing any more people in- that is absolutely true- but what ever happened to liking more detail added to anything. We already have a 'short' potc ride- why not plus it with the most interesting addition from the last movie installment ?

I hope it's better in person, but I like it
