They don't look like mermaids. And, Blackbeard(?) can barely be seen at all in the mist "waterfall". You just hear his voice. Then, you see the mist screen with no waterfall projection and a very, very faint projection of the pirate (if you know to look for him). Too bad as the projections were a cool visual effect while they lasted. Hopefully, they projections will be restored to their original glory soon.

The music was interesting, but took away from the eerie empty cave vibe, which was disappointing. I also thought that the mermaid skelleton was a little strange/graphic, considering how much they're hyping the new Ariel ride on the other side of the park!

As for Davy Jones/Blackbeard, the fog screen was working, as was the sound, but it appeared that the projector had been completely turned off. With the mermaid song and the audio, it seemed like they tried to cram too much into too little space. The whole mermaid thing still seems like a strange choice to me, considering how long after the movie was released it was installed (and after the movie was pretty much forgotten by everybody). Overall, I can't say that I hated the additions, but they just seemed like strange choices.

Also, Bombardment Bay's canon splashes were hitting boats full on. When did that start happening?

Not sure, but we noticed that as well. It was an unwelcome surprise after getting a rather large splash at the bottom of the drop (sitting in the front row). We were quite damp by the time we finally got to the AA portion of the ride!

Jello... with cheese! A Few Good Men... with Mermaids! Luckily for mermaids, same thing applies here to amusement park rides. My reasoning is sound, please don't question this.

Yah, but would it work reliably? If not, I don't see how it's an improvement over what's there now. As it is, at least when it's 'broken' they can still light it up and let you see something; when a hologram is broken, there's just nothing there. Given how spotty technology can be, I really don't know if this would really be an improvement.
