My oldest sister Geri (age 72) was taught how to make it by my Aunt Mary who learned from my grandmother who learned from her Aunt back in Czechoslovakia. Anyway, I recently asked Geri if she would teach me so she came over a few weeks ago and taught me all about it. Her daughters weren't interested in learning because each batch takes several hours to make and involves a lot of work. Each recipe makes two large braided loaves. So, tonight with time to kill I thought I would try on my own. I panicked here and there. I wanted affirmation from Geri that I was doing things correctly but she's in Colorado for Christmas with one of her kids and not reachable. Oh well. The loaves are on the last rise before I bake them. I have no idea if they're going to come out or not! I think its going to be one of those recipes that you have to make several times to get it right.

So I fell in love with Chrimbo and that's what I will call it from here on out.

I wasn't feeling overly festive, but all of a sudden it hit me last night, and now I've had a terrible time sleeping today, let's hope I get a chance to take a nap at work tonight! My immediate family is bringing the green beans, pudding with the hidden almond, potatoes, refried bean dip and chips and wine and I do believe that we are ready Grandson and his parents should arrive around noon, can't wait, and then we go up to my moms at 3:00. First Christmas since my Dad passed away in November but I think we'll be OK, my mom is one tough little cookie

My friend is coming to see us New Year, luckily they dont say anything about our house being trimmed up for Christmas. I will give her a present then actually, but just cos she's my friend, no other reason! I love the sound of all these receipies! making me hungry. We have had corned beef hash and Turkish flat bread for tea. Tomorrow it's turkey and all the trimmings ( I mean stuffing, sprouts etc, we aren't eating the Christmas decorations!...lol) it's the first time we have had a turkey on Christmas day, we usually get a duck. So excited, Connor is in bed, Kieran's going in 40 mins, then I can bring the pressies from us down.....Santa will bring his presents when we are all asleep!!!!!!!! ;~) Have a great great day everyone.
