When the story about the military incursions broke, I heard an interview with an ICE agent. He said that, at one point, they actually arrested a bunch of soldiers when their jeep broke down in the middle of a chase. They had military ID's as well as full gear. And here's the real kicker: within a couple of hours, the office was called by Washington and told to escort the soldiers to the border and release them. What that says to me: A. This corruption goes to the highest levels of the Mexican gov. B. The Bush administration is actively engaged in helping to cover up the corruption. C. It's left as an exercise to the reader figure out the implications of point B.
